i agree with previous poster that IF one is taking any kind of statins for cholesterol, that is the first place to look for the culprit! serious side effects.

I guess I should have been more specific.. Sorry about that. The area he has trouble with is the section of leg below the knee.

He was taking a statin drug and went off of it for at least a couple of months, but if the achy pain got better it wasn't enough to talk about. He says it is a achy pain....not a pins and needles feeling, nor a leg cramp (Charlie Horse) feeling. He has since been put back on the statin drug. Before all that he tried different statins. He has had his knees checked by the orthopedic surgeon and MRI'd....plus his back MRI'd. His magnesium level was okay when they did a bunch of blood tests. No diabetes. Different tests to check for neuropathy and didn't find anything there that is causing the problem. Went to physical therapy. Tried Gabapentin (spelling?). He didn't like the way it made him feel, but is now started to take it at a different time of day to see if that makes a difference.

We are just looking for anything now that might help. He was told to drink Tonic Water with Quinine. So he is doing that now. I have heard about the bar of soap, but we thought that was just an old wive's tale. But apparently people on here are doing it. Can't hurt to try. Please keep the suggestions coming because he is desperate to find some relief and get some sleep with having to take pain meds.

Cool anatomy site. Interactive views...inner body.com.
Which muscle hurts?

Some sciatic pain, in my experience, is made worse by a bed that misfits body contours. Contrary to what we used to know, a hard bed causes stress to unsupported areas, aggravating nerves running through those muscles.

Default agree/ try the soap/ it works for some

By all means get it checked out but in the meantime...it does not hurt to try the soap. I have leg/hip pain and have used the soap under the bottom sheet for several years and it does help to alleviate the pain.

I read about it from Dr Gott in the paper, have no idea if it is the magnesium or how it works all I know is that it works and it is real cheap!!!

I have been told by many that Ivory is the best.

However, the key is to drink plenty of water.
