Default Medicare+TFL vs. United Healthcare+TFL

I am grandfathered into TVHealthcare but my wife will turn 65 next year so we have some decisions to make. My research indicates there is no benefit for someone already in Medicare w/TFL to change.

To be brief, I can find no quality dental or vision practices that accept the United Healthcare insurance. They seem to have signed up all the high pressure practices in the area that want to press you into unneeded work that is not covered by their plan. There are one or two small practices listed but I suspect they are barely making it as a business and signed up with a lot of hope but not much service to provide and that leads me to question their rigor in infection prevention.

United Healthcare/TVH are asking about 1,000 retired military families to switch, but there is not one person on their staff that can talk knowledgeably about TFL and how it interfaces with UNH.

TV tried to create a good healthcare system and I believe their intentions were good (as long as it was profitable) but it failed..... And now we veterans are being shuttled off to the least cost provider that will kick back to the TVH.

Tom,
We just move here from Colorado where I was on a Kaiser Medicare HMO with Tricare secondary. It was fantastic. A surgery plus radiation and numerous tests and specialty visits. Not one co-pay or bill. Moving here I had to explore the alternatives as Kaiser is not in Florida. After talking with quite a few reps from various health organizations, the consensus is that TFL is the best there is here. I have no experience with it and have my first Dr visit upcoming. I only hope it is as good as they all say because Kaiser is a tough act to follow. I especially hate having to search around for doctors and specialists not knowing any in the area.
Goos luck

I was to my Villages doc yesterday. He said they are making an exception and people with TFL and original Medicare can stay with the Villages Health.

TVH staff? Why would you ask TVH staff about insurance specifics? They aren't insurance agents. If you go to UHC, they do have specific agents who specialize in Tricare. Been there, done that.

Regarding dental for retired military. Check out TRDP.org. (Tricare Retiree Dental Program) May offer additional choices.
