Also agree w/everyone for Dr Tran! He did my surgery and did a fantastic job! Dr Tran studied at Cleveland Clinic and someone told me he used to be a plastic surgeon before he specialized in Mohs surgery. That is most likely the reason he is SO good on his technique on how to cut and stitch, to have the great outcome on my face.

Default Tran is a scam

Every time I went there some thing was cut usually in an area where I could not see. I had a positive on my face and Tran did the job in less that 20 minutes and 6 months later it reappeared. The job was not done the first time so I went to Dr. Richards who is tops in the field. All of my friends have dropped Tran for a better choice.

Dr. Casper is our choice of dermatologist.
He never rushes us and he did a serious MOHS surgery on my husband from the top of the sideburn to the bottom of his ear, a long area, and the scar is barely visible plus husband has not had a recurrence.
Several of my friends have left Dr. Tran and gone to Casper.

I too beleive the use of scam is nothing more than an individual trying to add as much negative emphasis as possible.

And we all know as Paul Harvey used to say.....now for the rest of the story (which we are not getting).

By the way for those who are changing because of recurrence.....what is the recurrance rating of the other docs mentioned? What is the recurrence rating of skin cancer surgery in general?

Most of us know it is not zero. No different than the differing recurrance expectations of other types of cancers.

I will bet not one of those with a recurrance complaint confronted Dr. Tran.

The only scam I see is the need for some to disparage a provider.

I was told I needed to have MOHS on the tip of my nose (poetic) and have to decide to either do the MOHS or radiation. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm hoping to minimize the scarring if possible. Thanks

My wife had a similar diagnosis and a very positive outcome. Dr Tran performed the MOHS.

Did the same medical person give you Those choices? If it is not melanoma I am curious why radiation. I have not heard about much radiation being used on skin cancer.......especially if non Melinda.

I had the same thought. It is unusual and I had not heard of it until moving here.

I've posted very positive comments about Dr David Casper in other threads. He detected a malignant melanoma on my very first visit and excised it right there. He saved my life in May of '13.

This morning he removed a squamus cell cancer from my arm. He called me on his cell phone just now (5:45pm) to make sure I was doing well.

That's my kind of doctor!

Dr. Caspar offers either MOHS or a very low radiation therapy which requires 3 visits a week for 5 weeks. My cancer is basel cell so it isn't life threatening.
I was curious to know if the radiation therapy leaves a scar as opposed to MOHS which I've had several times. The radiation therapy is new to me. Thank you all for your responses.

I had the radiation on my face and ear. There are no scars. The radiation is quick. You go in at your scheduled time (or very close to it) and you are out in 10-15 minutes.

The tech that does the radiation is friendly and informative.

Would you happen to know what kind of radiation is used and if the tech is a radiation Physicist? I'd like to learn more.
