EPIC is over $100M and generates $0 revenue!!! Then add service contracts, IT support, etc. and you spent so much on it that you cannot afford to switch later if something better comes along

I'm going to agree with the OP that if the doctor is providing the shot in his/her own office there is a responsibility to inform the patient about cost. Whatever it was that Medicaid which is a terrible payer paid out 3200 for must be a very high priced product and the doctor absolutely knows it is very expensive and should know that patients often have a substantial copay or coinsurance for those things. ( Was it really Medicaid or more likely Medicare)

Were there cheaper options? Cortisone instead of one of the TV advertised shots? Was this some kind of stem cell thing with a little evidence behind it and a lot of profit? Yes cost of a treatment in the office with the med provided by the office requires a discussion. You wouldn't want your dentist just doing a high priced treatment without a cost discussion. They tell or show you the cost up front.

But the OP's OP didn't mention ANYTHING about the doctor giving him a shot right then and there in the doctor's office. The OP left all that out, and allowed a few PAGES of responses by people who used logic and critical thinking to assume he was talking about the doctor ordering a prescription that the patient would get filled at a pharmacy somewhere.

The OP has added more details since then - and every time someone explains why it's still an unreasonable expectation for the DOCTOR (not the doctor's office, not their insurance department, but the actual Doctor) to know the prices for all prescriptions - he adds a new detail.

At this point I'm starting to think the OP is just making up hypotheticals in a very weak attempt to move more goalposts.
