Default Emergency Room Wait Time Database

Here's a link to a National database for ER wait times. If you want to compare The Villages Hospital to other local ER's, I guess you can do so here. If the link doesn't directly work, cut/paste the address into your browser.

The site seems buggy. I tried my city, then zip, then hospital and they all came up with an error. It finally tried Wichita's zip, 60 miles away and it came up with a list including Hutchinson, which turns about about average.

I tried names and zips for The villages, Lady Lake, Ocala Leesburg and Orlando and got nothing.

Any hints?

The best way to access this site is to insert as a Google search medicare.gov/hospitalcompare. Click that search item. Then enter say 32162 as zip...then click search...it lists 10 hospitals...select 3, then push compare now...then select at top the menu that says "Timely and Effective Care"...scroll down and you'll see all the items including the Emergency Room items. The Villages average number of minutes patients spent in the emergency dept before they were seen by a health care professional is 62 minutes...is a very high number and thus a bad number. The national average is 30 minutes with Florida's average at 30 minutes also. I think that this number and others may demonstrate the fact that their is in fact an issue at The Villages ER as many have reported.
The Pittsburgh hospitals reported a range of 11 minutes to 58 minutes with a total average of about 25 minutes for the 24 hospitals that reported to Medicare.
