Default Ocala Eye Medical Office

Hi, I did a search on TOTV but couldn't find anything about this clinic. Has anyone had any experience, good, bad or indifferent with this group of doctors.

I checked into their backgrounds and some seem to have great qualifications but its good to get first hand information.

Thanks, Kathie

My husband and I have been seeing doctors at Ocala Eye for three years and have been very satisfied with their services. If you need a surgical procedure, you have to go to their Ocala surgery center, which is a pain, but other than that, we have no complaints.

Thanks, Frau, that's exactly what I want to know. Don't mind going to a surgery center but wanted to be sure the doctors were as good as they're backgrounds indicate. Thanks for the response.

Kathie -

Ocala Eye is the only professional medical group I have encountered since I have been in TV for 2-1/2 years. When I had eye surgery last year and was having discomfort, they met me in their office both Saturday and Sunday to check on me. Extremely helpful, all with impressive training and education.

PS - Because I had no one to take me to Ocala for the surgery, they have a shuttle that will take you to Ocala for the procedure and bring you home.

Upon moving to TV over four years ago, we began with Ocala Eye and Dr. Polack. He's an excellent doctor, but always in such a hurry. I had developed diabetes, and I was disappointed that I had to point that out to him even though it was highlighted in their updated medical records.

Last year, I developed a torn retina. In an emergency situation, I was seen by Dr. Jodie Armstrong at the Laurel Manor office. She was wonderful, and I have since changed to her as my doctor instead of Dr. Polack.

For the torn retina, I did have to go to the surgery center in Ocala, where Dr. Samy performed laser surgery. He's amazing (degrees from Harvard AND Yale), although not loaded with personality. Since I was more interested in saving the sight in my eye, I wasn't overly concerned about his personality. He is apparently one of the top retina specialists in the state, and my eye has healed beautifully.

I would highly recommend this medical group, although I would definitely check out the doctor you decide to use. If I remember correctly, they do have at least one with a less desireable history.

Thanks Cinco and IslandGal, good information and I'll call for an appointment for Dad today. He's 92 and has EVERYTHING wrong with his eyes. I've taken him for years to all the eye specialists from New York to Los Angeles, so we'll hope that they can help him get comfortable now. Thanks, again!

I've been going to them since before they moved into their new facility by Laurel Manor. I see Dr. Richard Warren. I had been treated for glaucoma for 20+ years before coming here and was told early on that the specific type I had was one of the few conditions that could actually improve with age. Well, lo and behold the glaucoma has gone and my eyes are stronger than they have been in a long, long time. My latest Rx for lenses is weaker than my old one and they told me I could actually probably pass my drivers test without glasses. I don't attribute any of this to Dr. Warren, but I do like him and would recommend him.

Default Update on Ocala Eye Medical Office

Thanks all, for the information. I called today and the receptionist referred me to a triage nurse to discuss which doctor will be best for all my father's eye problems. I thought that was extremely professional and efficient for a medical group.

Triage nurse called me within an hour and we discussed at length the problems and she was able to get us an appointment tomorrow morning at 10am. Talk about efficient and collaborative service. I was extremely impressed.

Good recommendation so far. TOTV is wonderful!!

Default Karataconous

I had two corenea transplants in Orlando for Karataconous (misshapening of the corneas) R eye in 06 and L eye in 07. Had numerous cataracts and clouding of the lens implants. After moving here last year and hating those arduous trips to the big "O", Dr Polack was recommended to me by a fellow musician. I have had him as an opthomologist now for awhile. I was told there was a waiting list for him as he is so good.
I got in on an emergency basis in two days at the Ocala office. I have since had my records transferred to the Villages and could not be happier with him as my primary. And the cloudiness behind the lens' has all but disappeared. All I need do now is wait a month or so for all this nonsense to settle down and I can get my second script my for music/computer glasses.

Default Ocala Eye Recommendation

Hi..
I had cataract surgery with Dr. Jank there about 2 months ago and I am as pleased with it as anyone could ever be. I can read the market quote pages in the newspaper without glasses now! My husband is having both his cataracts removed in a couple of weeks and Dr. Jank is doing his. The entire staff is to be commended for their care, concern, attention to detail, and professionalism. I'll be having my other eye done probably sometime in December. I'm not that easily impressed but am very impressed with them.

You'll see that I posted on 9-18-08 about Ocala Eye. I'd repeat my suggestion to run the doctors through the Florida Department of Health website before making your final decision on which doctor to use.

I'd also add that a lawsuit being filed doesn't mean a lot these days, because there are so many frivolous ones filed against doctors. However, if there is a judgment rendered and the doctor is fined, I think that's significant.

Florida physician profiles are available at http://ww2.doh.state.fl.us
