I have had neurosurgeons tell me that surgery will not help all my disk problems. Dr Spurrier was one of them, the other in Tampa. Took a lot of PT, exercise and stretching but my low back is somewhat under control. I do all my sports, it's worth it for my mental health! Just have to give back some rest periods. Think very hard before going to Dr Bono. It will feel good at first and for awhile, but it is not permanent.

At least go to him for a 2nd opinion...he can tell you what you'll need and if it's surgery that will be it or if not he'll give you other options. I had a dissectomy on a ruptured disc by him 3+ years ago and have done well since! I was given MANY positives from ALL the medical folks I encountered before and after my procedure from the EMT's. the ER, the surgical floor (I think that's on 3 at T.V. hospital) and my after-care people. My PT told me he'd seen many, many botched back surgeries but never with Dr. Spurrier!!
Does anyone have Dr. Spurrier's office phone number? All office phone numbers that show up for him on google are 352-391-9401. Everytime I call it, a recording comes on that says "welcome to Verizon Wirelss, the number you have called has been changed or disconnected"! Has he retired and closed out his practice? I'm trying to find a good back doctor for my mother and he sounds to be the best. If anyone know his status and/or phone number, please post it. Thank you.

If you go back and read posts #13 and following, you will find that Dr. Spurrier has gone out of practice here.
