Default Gynecologist Recommendation

Just found out my gynecologist of 12 years (Dr. Steepy) no longer accepts traditional medicare with a supplement. Only accepts United Healthcare Advantage Plans. I am looking for a female in the Villages area. Thank you.

I know. If you turn 65 after 1/1/16 and are going on Medicare with a supplement (I had BC/BS) you are terminated from The Villages Health System which includes Dr. Steepy. To keep my primary, who I love, and Dr. Steepy I chose to switch to Medicare Advantage with United Healthcare as my supplement. I did lose a lot of my other specialists and will try the specialists in their System but if I'm not happy after a year I'll switch back under my husbands BC/BS. I did check and they said that I could. If you were 65 before 1/1/16 you are grandfathered into The Villages Health System but the opinion is that even that will change in the future.

I turned 65 before 1/1/16 (by a few years) and they said I wasn't grandfathered in because it was before Dr. Steepy joined their healthcare system or something like that. I don't know. I also have BC/BS as a supplement through my husband's job; however, if I decline that coverage, I can NEVER get it back. The drug portion is very good so I can't give it up. They wouldn't even refer me to anyone because she didn't have a list. Ugh!

I vote for Michelle Wood. I have had her for the last 2 1/2!years and am pleased with the services. I also have FLBCBS Plan F as my Medicare supplemental plan. I have not yet had any copayment. To my knowledge, she is not a part of the Vilages Health and has an office right off ElCaminoReal and one in Leesburg. I continue to have the VH as my primary but choose specialists on the outside.
She's a great doctor and was the one who found a lump in my breast and rushed me in for a biopsy.
