Default Which Urgent Care do you use?

Do they take care or your needs or just send you to the ER or tell you to see your doctor on Monday?
I've been twice in 3 days and mine was not equipped...what a waste of time and money. I'm so disappointed in the medical care here.

Several weeks ago, my wife had to go to UC at LSL. The staff there seemed to be very professional and knowledgeable. We were very satisfied with the care she received there. If you don't mind telling, which UC did you go to?

I went to the UC in Summerfield across from Wal-Mart on 27/441 and I thought that they did a good job. I would go there again if I had a problem that warranted it.

We've used (I think it's) Premier or Paramount (I know it begins with a "P" on 466 over in the strip across where there is all that new construction going on. We've had good results with them. IF you're having a heart attack or some such thing I think they'd stabilize you and call 911 since the hospital would best be able to serve you. BUT if you're having a sinus infection or anything you'd see a doctor for in a clinic they'd be able to assist you.

Thumbs up Urgent Care

We have always used the UC at Lake Sumter, (near Sweatbay). They have only Dr's and they have been terrific. Have been to them for a few problems and in each case you could not beat them. Would never consider anywhere else.

In March I had to go to the Urgent Care at Lake Sumter....had to wait a bit but was very satisfied with the staff and the prescribing doc. I'd definitely go there again if needed.

I've had excellent care at the Lake Sumter Urgent Care. They were equipped to do a minor dermatology surgery. There are several doctors there. They have their own x-ray equipment. One doctor called in another for a consult after I left and they called me at home to say that they wanted to add to the treatment they had suggested.

Take it from a nurse who works at a large (75K patients) medical/urgent care center: AP's and NP's stack up very well to DR's when it comes to urgent care. (Don't tell my docs but I prefer two or three of our AP's to them)

Default Lruc

We have used LRUC long before they opened their office at Lake Sumter Landing. Their other office is on Rt. 441, near the airport in Leesburg. The service has always been outstanding and very professional. Even when there were other urgent care centers opening here in The Villages and surrounding areas we drove the extra miles to Leesburg, knowing we would leave the office with a diagnosis and a treatment plan. The business is owned by a married couple who are both "crackerjack" doctors.

The medical care here may not be up to the standards of whatever area you moved from but I can tell you it is vastly improved from what it was when I moved here 13 years ago! It was not at all unusual to travel to Leesburg or Ocala for medical care, due to a lack of doctors here. There was no hospital and no urgent care centers that I can recall. I think the best thing that you can do is to visit these forums and ask questions about our experiences with various medical professionals and facilities. It hasn't been easy finding good doctors. I can't help but wonder if I might have had the same problem moving to almost any new location that was not in a big metropolitan area?

Default now if you are having a....

heart attack....call 911/ EMS immediately, don't go to Urgent Care, every minute is crucial. I am assuming the original poster intended that they would stabilize you for a heart attack in the case that you were not aware that was your issue.

Thumbs up Dr's Only

As I understand it at the Lake Sumter Urgent Care you will be seen by a Dr and not a Physician Assistant, etc. As it was stated when you go to an Urgent Care you want to see a Dr.

As SSmith says Urgent Care doesn't mean Emergency Care for critical symptoms.

As I mentioned don't dismiss AP's and NP's for urgent care.

Me too. Had a bit of a scare a couple of weeks ago. The problem occurred in the evening. Called a couple of UC's only to find them closed. The one opposite Walmart 27/441 was open until midnight. Professional and thorough. Diagnosis made, prescription provided and I was on my way. Problem corrected.

I am not recommending them. I got in big trouble making a recommendation once. I am just saying I had a good experience and would not hesitate to go back.
