Default hip revision

Have you had a hip revision? I have an infection and they want to take out the hip and put in a temporary, then after a few weeks put in a new.

Who is the surgeon?

I don't think the surgeon is relevant, the surgery ws 2 years ago. I think it is an infection which settled in a weak spot which was the previous incision. I would just like to someone who has had a revision.

Just what I'd like to avoid or at least know some who has had it done.

Revisions are more complex than the original replacement. Pick your surgeon and hospital carefully. Consider Mayo or a teaching hospital. Pick a place/doc that publishes their success rates. Ask tough questions..bad outcomes, risks...and costs. Try to get in and out of the hospital in the shortest period (hospitals harbor bad bugs). Avoid pain pills until after surgery. You can give any excess to me....just sayin'.

the advise is good however you may find a new doctor will not do the revision...most of the time you have to return to the same practice
