Big changes proposed for Medicare surgery payments
Does this mean that my Doctor would no longer be 'responsible' for my care because the hospital where the surgery is performed will be accountable for my outcome? What if I do not approve of the rehab facility where I am sent post-op? What if the physical therapy rehab plan is not what my Doctor would order? How can 90 days be set as a one-size-fits-all outcome determination? What impact is there for the patient if they are not as-good-as-new within that 90 days? Why does the govt believe they know more than my Doctor?

As a health care professional (case manager) RN I think this will assure accountability for the patients outcome no more passing the buck. The payment driven system has produced improved outcomes and saving in the past.
It one procedure should come one price doing this raises the need to out preform other providers as in any field the best person for the job is the one we want cont poor performance will result in lack of payment that will cause poor providers to go under |

As a retired health care professional I can tell you that those are the questions to ask. Too much interference with the patient physician relationship. The government is the last organization I want making decisions of any sort for me, and most especially healthcare decisions. The Feds are unable to provide adequate care for our veterans - why should their decisions be any better on our behalf. Sorry for the rant but I've watched as an insider for 50 years as our government has experimented on us, and in the process just about destroyed the best healthcare in the world.
