Default Recommendation for Medicare Part D Drug plan

I may be switching Prescription Drug plans. Has anyone used Transamerica Medicare RX plans (Stonebridge Life)?

Never heard of them. I have had AARP Medicare Preferred with United Healthcare since Part D started. This year I decided to check out some other plans. Make sure you check ALL your medications against their formularies to see which Tier each med is under and what the co-pay is. One of my drugs, a generic, was $6 for a 90 day mail-in supply but $166 under another's plan. I called the other plan to ask why they had this drug listed as a Tier 3 when it was a generic drug and the girl said that some generics are more expensive than others. Will stick with my plan.

The formularies seem to be the key. Since I only have one or two Rxs I subscribed to Humana Wal*Mart plan for 2014 @ $12.60 per month. Had a couple unexpected but temporary, health issues crop up and it turns out the formularies on that plan are very limited. Probably would have saved money having NO Medicare Rx plan. I'll be looking for a different provider for 2015.

Be sure to check out Wellcare's programs. Last year with my medications, I found this to be least expensive when I added premiums and copays.
