Default American Cancer Society Looking for Participants in Study

The American Cancer Society is looking for Central Florida residents to participate in the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). Exclamation American Cancer Society Seeking Volunteers to Help Recruit for Study

The American Cancer Society is conducting a new study, the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3), which will help researchers gain important insight into factors in genetics, environment, and lifestyle that cause or prevent cancer. In order to accomplish this, we are looking for Champions who are willing to help recruit participants for the study. There are no eligibility requirements to be a Champion, but men and women who wish to participate in CPS-3 must be between the ages of 30 and 65, willing to commit to the long term study, and never been previously diagnosed with cancer.

A kick-off event will take place Tuesday, May 21st, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Modular Classroom at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center and from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Sharon Morse Modular Classroom at The Villages Hospital System. The event will start with registration of Champions, followed by a one-hour program where they will receive the information necessary to help educate and recruit community members for CPS-3.

To RSVP for the kick-off, please contact Trisha Patel by phone at (407) 581-2524, or by email at trisha.patel@cancer.org . To learn more about CPS-3, visit Participate Cancer Prevention Study-3 | American Cancer Society or call the toll-free number at 1-888-604-5888. Whether you are a survivor, caregiver, or wish to honor a friend or loved one who has battled cancer, becoming a CPS-3 Champion is a great way to help in the fight to make this cancer’s last century.

I just checked the website and found out that if you have had non-melanoma skin cancer, you are still eligible to participate in the study.
I know that many people in The Villages have had basal cell skin cancer (myself included) and wanted to let those people know that if they are interested in participating in the study, they can.

Residency is not a requirement to participate. The study is nationwide so if you are not a local resident, you can find a recruiting location closer to you, and if you are a local, you can make an appointment at one of the locations listed. We appreciate your interest in this study!
