However, I'm not sure I agree with your conclusion that we were better off without the Big Pharma ads. Had I not heard the ads, I might have taken my doctor's advice to try one of the, um, anti-peezalot pills. However, hearing the long list of side effects recited in the commercials convinced me otherwise. Which is worse methought, frequent potty breaks or osteoporosis.

Thanks to those dumb Big Pharma ads, Princess Peezalot I was and Princess Peezalot I shall remain.

Thanks Big Pharma. And no thanks.
Exactly and thank goodness you were able to make your own educated decision on what apparently did not sound kosher to you.

I read for years (and known folks who've experienced the medical treadmill) where the first prescription leads to side effects that leads to the second prescription that leads to new side effects.....and on and on until a poor soul is on 5 or 6 meds for something innocuous to begin with.

I have arthritis pain, joint pain.......however, I prefer to not screw any more with my immune system.....nor develop blood cancer, etc. down the line or lung cancer as the disclaimers say, when I've never smoked a day in my life...........like, which is the lesser of two evils?

I had a friend who never smoked a day in her life; her husband didn't smoke either......she did "doctor" for arthritis pain in her feet.....and she did like to get a "little pill" so was put on RX....for arthritis. Two years later she came down with lung cancer which was a mystery to all........
She had a horrible two years after that..........now, no one knows for sure, but if you listen to the "possible side effects" it does say lung cancer and I've researched it..........how can one get lung cancer from an arthritis drug? And who would want to?

I'll stick with my SUPER BLUE emu oil with aloe vera and other botanicals.

I can live with the joint pain and stiffness, worse on rainy, snowy, cold days..........and live with plain aspirin and the heat cranked up.

[QUOTE=twinklesweep;671577]Are you talking about real sugar or the stuff that thanks to pressure from big agriculture has replaced it in most processed foods--high fructose corn syrup? The same “corn” that gasoline additives are made from!
************************************************** *******

You've probably read all of the same stuff I have.........

I do believe all of the processed foods available today, and consumed by so many "on the go" two partner working families..........plus those who use the drive up windows because they are too exhausted in the evening to cook from scratch............do contribute to most of the strange symptoms people have today..........

I've done the research as you have done. We saw that KING CORN video years ago.....and that was a mind opener.........and I've realized CORN or HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP is in everything...............unless you buy fresh fruits and veggies and natural chicken, etc. and make it all from scratch.........but even barbecue sauces, etc. have it...........everything does.........one has to read every label.

If you read any of the blogs on the internet at the medical sites........young people are having strange symptoms including pain in their legs, joints........you name it and wonder if it's from the green tea they are drinking or some food they are consuming..........there should be a law against "flavor enhansors" in packaged, processed, frozen foods........plus lots of restaurants use the same stuff..........so don't think they are cooking it fresh for us.

It is hard for me not to post when something catches my attention and I'm sure there are many out there who are saying "Don't encourage her"! I do try to be as concise as I can, but when I get going on an idea it seems to have legs of its own and often goes off in related directions.

It is nice to know that there are other likeminded people on this forum who are resonating with the information I enjoy sharing. It's better than being the voice in the wilderness that I felt like for so many years. Can't tell you the number of gatherings I went to and just had to keep silent so as not to be seen as "weird". Always was a little "out there" but I finally got to a place where being thought of as weird was not my problem and being me was more empowering and authentic, so it became easier to share. And over the years, more and more people have become interested and more and more information has become mainstream and "proven" so I am always pleased about that.

This forum and the TV atmosphere is so refreshingly relaxing for me that it has become my morning "coffee". I read and type and drink my salt water before I get going in the morning. Life can't get much better than this!

Do you think it's because we live predominately in a colder climate that our thinking process is more accepting of what may seem to others as unusual?
Vermont has always been populated with free thinkers.
Ditto for much of New England..........

Big Pharma is not evil. They are partly responsible for the many medications which are keeping most of us still here. Direct to consumer advertising history is here Direct-to-consumer advertising - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is the FDA which requires the listing of possible side effects in those ads. The package insert which the consumer does not receive with your medication but is available online lists all adverse events that occurred during the premarket testing of the medication including those which may not be caused by the drug but simply happened at a rate higher than that observed either in a placebo arm of a study or at a rate higher than that in an established database. There does not have to be a documented cause and effect relationship. Rare but serious possibilities need to be listed. If a medication has a 50% chance of helping and a .01% chance of harming the benefit greatly outweighs the risk. With complementary medicine the chance of helping is almost always unknown as there is no requirement for any data to be produced and it is not produced as a zero benefit would harm the market. However the risk of harm is almost always extremely low (but not always 12 Dangerous Dietary Supplements ) other than the fact that it may be used by some consumers in place of therapies that could actually help (or harm) them. Some people who chose Laetrile or Krebiozen could have been saved by Big Pharma but instead died at the hands of "alternative" BS.

Never thought about the effect of climate. Perhaps the long winters give more time to think, but my theory is that the world closet is full of us, and the energy of the planet is now supporting more coming out into the light and being seen and heard. After all it has always been referred to as Enlightenment and every time cycle has had an Age of Enlightenment and enlightened thinkers, who were first ridiculed, ignored and suppressed, before their ideas were found to have merit and often were the basis of new practices. Reminds me that "Everything old is new again".

... we can conscientiously read the labels and still be misled. How many of us realize that "flavor enhancer" or "natural flavoring" or "natural seasoning" is MSG?! What, another chemical?! Oh yes....

As Gracie says, you have no choice but to be yourself, since everyone else is taken. The trick is not to let someone else's problem become yours--with your agreement yet! You know what is real for you, and while discretion might mean keeping your mouth shut in certain situations, there's no reason for anyone to feel the need to conform when doing so just doesn't feel right. And trust that you are not alone....

Reminds me of the story I always told my kids when the "crowd" wanted to go one way and it didn't feel right. It was about how the lemmings follow the crowd and run over the cliff in droves to their death. The visual always reminds me of mobs of kids who don't know where the road is going and blindly follow the apparent leaders.

It must have made some impression as my youngest daughter at 7 or 8 went to a birthday party where the film Halloween was being shown and she asked to be excused and went to play with the toys instead and only one other little girl joined her. They are so impressionable at that age and why any parent would show that film at a party is beyond me so I was very pleased that she opted out!

Needless to say she has grown to be a free thinker and we have an agreement that I can say what I want, and she doesn't need to follow to any of it unless it resonates with her. I had to set it up like that when she was in her 20's as she told me that when I offered suggestions, she had a hard time figuring out if she was just "doing what she was told" or following her own feelings. I didn't want to not share so I let go of any attachment to any of the ideas being taken up by her. Over the years it has been interesting to notice what she has chosen to follow and as she gets older with kids of her own, she is asking about stuff more so it feels like some of the stuff stuck with her and that feels good.

I am glad your kids turned out well. However, you may owe them an apology for allowing the master manipulators at Disney to completely mislead (lie) you into using lemmings to illustrate your point.

snopes.com: White Wilderness Lemmings Suicide

"Lemmings were imported for use in the film... The rodents were placed on a snow covered turntable and filmed from various angles to produce a "migration" sequence; afterwards the helpless creatures were transported to a cliff overlooking a river and herded into the water... The entire sequence was faked.."

The snopes story is worth reading. No more accusing people of acting like lemmings.

Thanks Blueash. I'll have to tell my girls so that so the grandkids don't get the same story!
