Default Doctors

I've just move my mom to a retirement facility in Oxford. Along with that comes a village of new doctors I need to find for her, she is 88. Can anyone give me suggestions for a GP, dermatologist who does the MOS procedure, cardiologist and a doctor who specializes in macular degeneration? The facility does not offer suggestions and I can't have her use mine since I belong to The Villages Health Centers. Thanking everyone in advance.

Doesn't the facility offer suggestions?

How far do you want to travel? I love my family doctor, Martinez-Cruz, who is across from TVRH in that complex of low medical/office buildings. It's between Morse and the hospital.

Dr. M-C practices alone, is very patient oriented and doesn't over-schedule, leaving openings to fit people in when needed. For instance, I called Friday morning due to a pulled muscle, and he fit me in at 11:00. His staff is very friendly.

For GP, I use Nelani Yelamanchi in the Laurel Manor complex for medical buildings. She and her staff are all very caring and nice. She also has an office near Colony Cottage, if that's more convenient.

I second Dr. Martinez-Cruz I LOVE him and so doesn't my husband! He's the best Dr. we've had since we left Boston. I should tell you he was at MGH in Boston also. For a eye doctor I think Dr Baumann at Mid-Florida Eye Ctr. is excellent. For MOHS Dr.Tran is great. He removed a basal cell cancer near my eye and he did an excellent job. It was very deep and big and I hardly have a scar now b/c he's such a great doctor!

Wonderful dermatologist who performs MOHS procedure is
Johnny Gurgen, MD
210 South Lake Street
Suite 9
Leesburg, FL. 34748
352-435-7695

Michael Gurgen is a NP who works along side is brother, Dr. Gurgen. I have to say, Michael is absolutely wonderful, he is kind, patient and does not rush.

FYI...this practice is going to move to The Villages at the end do 2014. I am so glad I am already an established patient, they are all so good.

Dr Norman Novis has an office located near 466/Rolling Meadows. He was my parents' doctor while they were at Lady Lake Specialty.

I'm surprised that the facility doesn't have a medical director who sees patients at the facility on a regular basis.

Kimberly Ireland at St Luke's Eye is very good - we switched to her after going to Ocala Eye and coming away convinced that they were much more concerned with how much money they could make than with actually treating us.

I also go to Dr. Couterier and love him! Dr. Ramchander is a wonderful opthamologist and I think he treats macular degeneration. Dr. Martinez-Cruz does not go to the Villages Hospital should the need arise but, Dr. Gogioiu cares for his patients. I worked with him for many years at the hospital and he is a caring, compassionate, and highly skilled MD.
