Friend was treated similarly to you. Doctor told her she would not recommend paxlovid unless the symptoms got very bad. As my friend had a sore throat and low fever, it was suggested she deal with fighting it without drugs (other than something for sore throat (Lidocaine?). The current strain seems mild enough that treatment with emergency approved meds is not necessary for those who are healthy otherwise..

[QUOTE=dsnrbec;2163911]I’m curious if anyone who is part of The Villages Health Care system has seen their doctor for C. I’m pretty sick but not sure if they would be able to do anything to help symptom wise. Any advice or experience?[ I went to the urgent care off of Meggison and was given an infusion

I got Covid in May. I woke up with a headache, cough a was exhausted. I knew qanat it was and I had a home test and tested positive. I called my Dr. and his PA called me back to tell me a prescription for Paxlovid was called into my pharmacy. I masked up, put on gloves and picked it up at the window.
I had a low grade fever, chills, a headache and a cough that evening. I took the Paxlovid at 5pm and by the morning I was 90% better. It was a miracle and I am grateful that by the next day, I was better. I did not get rebound Covid and my Dr. told me I could take it again if I got Covid. I was vaxed and had some serious side effects so I never got a booster. I got no side effects from Paxlovid. |

Some of the advice here on Covid is very useful, one gets a picture of what others have gone through. I trust my doctor, but I like to do my own research too. I find there are always some outliers in personal experiences, but the general consensus usually works for me too. The other thing is, even if you don’t have Covid, you get prepared and have a plan of action as to what to do if you do get it. So I, personally, appreciate this thread. |

No guarantees but my partner who had COVID, then long COVID started taking zinc supplements and her machine-gun cough went away. Not sure it was the zinc but you might want to try it. Won't hurt.

WeThere have been quite a few independent studies done on Paxlovid that have found that it not only reduces the chances of hospitalization and death but also long covid. That said, when I got covid my pcd, ; told me to rest and if it got worse he would prescribe steroids.
So I called plushcare.com and got a prescription for paxlovid within 15 minutes. Still took me four weeks until I felt 100%. Last edited by Flyers999; 12-12-2022 at 08:37 PM. |
