I just did one at the chiropractic place yesterday and the newest one is pretty good. I believe it is quite expensive and you are right that after the novelty wears off, it sits unused. I remember my father having bought one via direct sales stopped using it after few months. Wonder where they sell those thouh.

I own one... I have owned several since they came out until I found the right one for me. If you read my first post you will see that it's the only exercise machine that I am bringing down to TV.
I LOVE it!!! I use it most days. You only get on it for a few minutes a day. It has a lot of benefits. Before I bought mine I googled it and found that the only people who said bad things about them had never used them or owned one. I own one and love it! This is the last one I bought an I love it! http://www.tfppolymers.com/VIBABODY_SLIMMER.html

Hi Angie,
I see on the website, it makes many claims. Do you know whether you have achieved any of these specific benefits? <h2>Tone and firm Lose weight and increasing lean muscle mass Improve flexibility, range of motion, balance, and mobility Fight cellulite Firm and tone the skin Increase bone density Increase circulation and lymphatic drainage Reduce pain and stiffness Elevate HGH and serotonin while decreasing cortisol (a hormone produced by stress) Also interested to know what machines you tried that didn't work and what the difference is in the one you feel is working. Why didn't the other ones work and the one you have now does? In case you can't tell from my questions, count me interested but skeptical. Thanks much! </h2> |

Q. Where did Whole Body Vibration come from? ![]() Impressed by the speed with which the cosmonauts regained their strength, Russian athletics trainers saw the potential for their athletes and used Whole Body Vibration to gain a competitive strength advantage over those outside the Eastern Bloc. Upon the fall of the Berlin Wall the West became aware of Whole Body Vibration and a German company first commercialised its production. Since that time Whole Body Vibration has been used by elite sports clubs, world class athletes, hospitals, gyms and physiotherapy centres. This is the site I got it from. http://www.vibo.com.au/faq Many of our gyms have them and even offer workouts on them. I was at a show once where they were selling them. I stopped to tell the people how much I enjoyed them. There were two older ladies there who said that while they didn't own one they had access to one and they were able to take some sort of medication they had to take if they got on it every day. Neither I nor my husband can remember what meds it was so I'm afraid I can't say... I remember I was impressed. There was another gentleman there who came over just to stretch on it. He said he had chronic back pain and the machine relieved the pain. As to the other machines I had... it's not that they didn't work. The first one I had was VERY cheap and I wore it out. The second one was nice but would only work for one minute at a time. It had weights with it and workouts. I wanted something that would go for at least 10 minutes and had varying speeds. The next one I bought did that but ran rough! It didn't feel nice. The last one I bought I bought from a show. It was smooth, ran for 10 minutes with three pre programs. I try to get on it as often a possible. I do the firm workout and run on the treadmill. I use the Whole body Vibration machine because it makes me feel good. You would have to get on one for awhile to understand what I am saying. Try some out and see what you think! It just makes you fell SOOOOOO good! Brings your spirits up! Sometimes I might so push ups on it, sometimes I stretch, sometimes I use weights..... But for me... I feel good!

Here's a webmd article on the topic, I like the part about putting a group of mice on it LOLOL, regardless, there seems to be some merit.
like Pturner, I'm skeptical but interested. noblerex has a lot of info online too, saying it can possibly qualify as a medical device if your doctor ok's it. http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercis...body-vibration |

Try before you buy. There is a new studio at The Villages where you can go and use their machines: http://www.gogastudios.com/studios.html
Haven't been myself but heard good things from others.

Here's an interesting article about the devices from Mayo Clinic website. It says there may be some benefits and that more study is needed.

canabarrybarb, hey thanks, I've contacted them for a visit!
pturner, I like the mayo clinic site, good info there, though they can be a bit conservative regarding new methods (not a thing wrong with that!). you have to try one of these, the other folks at the health expo (not just me) all just loved it. there are a billion on the market though, and a lot are scams and junk, so be careful. |
