When it is already on the bottom (looking up at whale poop!) there is only one direction to go.

Well, they used to provide large rooms in the Regional Rec Centers for VAX Care to come in from Orlando and give flu shots and shingles vaccine. Of course, there was plenty of flu vaccine available and no social distancing.

Why should they bother when your Dr's office and the pharmacies are already setup to administer shots? You can walk into Publix and get a shingles shot in 15 minutes.

So half the doses still have not been administered, that doesn't look very good for the health departments

I receive updates from Sumter County Health. The bottom line is they are not getting the vaccines they have been promised. They have the distribution plan in place, but all is dependent on having the vaccines on the shelf. Same with Publix. State stockpiles are low since the previous federal administration lied about its plan to hold second doses in reserve. Essentially there is a big supply-demand imbalance. Hopefully when Johnson/Johnson ramps up production, the supply crunch will ease. But that won't happen overnight. In the meantime, the counties are not given adequate notification as to when vaccine supplies will arrive. They often don't get specific dates, so that makes it very difficult to plan.

If you can believe the CDC numbers, 2.9 million distributed and 1.5 million given, those excess must be for the promised second dosage. Doesn’t that make sense?

From this morning’s New York Times: “ The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said about 17.4 million people have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and that about 3 million people had been fully vaccinated. The federal government said Saturday that it had delivered about 41.4 million doses to states, territories and federal agencies. The shipments, which came after a record-setting race to develop, study and approve a vaccine, have marked a turning point in the pandemic at a time when deaths and cases continue to set records. But federal health officials recently acknowledged that the vaccine rollout had had a slower-than-expected start and said they did not have a clear understanding as to why only a portion of the doses shipped across the nation had made it into arms.”

It also says that 6.2% of the people in Florida have had at least one of the shots. However, 2,908,275 doses were distributed to Florida, but only 1,489,003 have been given. That’s 51%. So where are they hiding the rest of it? And why didn’t the state have a first rate sign up appointment system in place months ago?

The Villages developer builds houses and amenities. The health department deals with the State to obtain the vaccine.
Finally, a voice of reason. Everyone wants to finger point in any direction the wind blows for the day. Who cares who to blame?? Keep checking on line, keep calling when possible and eventually youll get the vaccine. Complaining doesnt get you to the head of the line

Delivery and production of the vaccine and knowledge ahead of time as to the quantity that will be received has created a huge delay. Most of the states are using everything they receive. CVS and WALGREENS are still working in the LTC facilities but that should change over to the 65+public shortly. Publix is very organized but they are not getting aloot of the vaccine. I believe over the next 3 weeks, especially with the upcoming approval of Johnson & Johnson, the supply will increase dramatically. We are all anxious.

Default Let's do something that will have an effect.

Is there anyone or a few of you who write well, would write a petition? Once we agree on the content, I'll get it on the internet for Villages residents to sign. We will send it to the Governer and the appropriate federal heads. Contact me, and let's take some action.

Need a footnote for that one.

But, if he is, many of the states that supported him are much more numerous in population.
