I would like to know how many people home insure, in The Villages? And if so, how has it been working out for you?

I have been house hunting here and it seems to me that you get a little more for your money in the MLS listings vs the VLS. Am I overlooking something here?

Is anyone out there (that does not have a mortgage) self insuring their own homes & how has that been working for you? I’m not looking to be schooled on whether to get insurance or not, just want to get some information or tips from self insurer’s that maybe I haven’t thought of yet.
