If you don't like seeing gators move to a different retirement area, like Arizona where all you have is Rattle Snakes.

Red Fox / Grey Fox I've been on the tee boxes or out on the fairways and have heard gators croaking to each other from less than 20 feet away. Definitely keeps you from taking too long on your shot.

Walkers, evening strole out on Marsh Bend, I have seen one of these big 'uns over by Edna's. I was glad I didn't have my dog with me.

A different walk, heard one on Marsh Bend up by the Water Lily bridge. It was so close I crossed the road and walked in the grass just in case.

Gator kills a dog in Chitty Chatty. People don't realize how fast they can run. They CAN climb fences. They CAN open fence poles. Personally I wish they COULD be legally moved after a reaching certain sizes. I don't wish them harm BUT they have no preditors and all living things are their food source.

Maybe its just me, and I'm not playing along with the caption theme but I would want to know if I was walking into this cute little guy's path.

To be a good sport, "You and your little dog too."
Well, for the obvious reason that some individuals will think nothing about calling FWC and whining about a massive gator and they do not feel safe walking in that area anymore.

I completely agree with your commentary. The gator population seems out of balance. There are no predators to keep them in check. It would seem a schedule needs to be developed to have an established relocation. They are fast and its all over but the shouting.

I'm very glad the women reconsidered. Gators have great camouflage, are very fast and dangerous. Please stay away from them and never feed them.

There was a protocal in place where the Villages relocated gators after they grew to 6 ft. Don,t know if that still is the case. Maybe they can't get trappers anymore?

A gator can outrun a horse for short distances.

Many years ago we lived in SE FL and every morning I took our dog for a long walk. I kept my eyes open for places to run if we had to. Some of our neighbors had trucks and plan A was if a gator chased us I would run like the wind, grab my dog and jump in the back of the pick up truck. I didn't know then that they can climb.

You may have just saved their lives and the lives of their dogs that day or in the future.

Looks like a walking/bike path because if that was a golf cart path that gator is 60+ ft long.

FICTION: Although alligators can run up to a 20 mph, they can only reach that speed in short bursts. The average thoroughbred racing speed is 44mph.
