We have two of these beauties in our yard. They are Pink Velour crape myrtles. I didn't trim at all this year and they have a tremendous number of blooms and the branches bend and sway in the breeze. Great plants. That is a great picture you posted! Thanks.

My poor crepe myrtle has NO blooms on it. I did prune it according to instructions I found on-line. However, it was in January, so did I do it at the incorrect time? When do those with beautiful trees do the trimming?

Default Blooming and trimming.

I believe you normally prune in the winter when the tree is dormant. I have five different trees and they bloom beginning this month and it takes another month before they are all blooming. Variety of tree and age also affect the blooming. It will bloom. Make sure it is getting enough water. I do not prune mine back. I like them for their shade also.
