We raised muscovy ducks when I was a kid. They come in a lot of different colors! My favorites were the blue ones. They were actually grey, but referred to as blues. They don't quack like regular ducks. Instead they huff and hiss. We used to hand raise the babies and they followed us all over the place. They absolutely loved our collie and would curl up on her tail to sleep.

Do you have any photos? If so, they must be adorable!

The photos are all at my parent's house. I wish that I had the ones with the dog. She never wanted to disturb them, even when she wanted to get up. She would whimper until we came to shoo the babies away.

We had lots of these ducks in Ft Lauderdale....they'd sit on their eggs under the bushes...hatch about 12 - 18 babies and in a week they only had 3 or 4 left....there were lots of critters in the canals that enjoyed ducklings
not the brightest bird on the planet....commonly raised for the restaurants, as they have a large breast. They are not native to Florida, those in the wild are escapes |
