Favorite American Idol Contestant

I have allowed for 24 maximum votes per person.

And I clicked on the button for allowing the taker to change his or her vote. Not sure if that works though??

Know that as of now most of these contestants are unknown as far as talent is concerned as they usually focus on the bad singers the six weeks or so of AI. A couple of them have received quite a lot of airtime like the Irish singer Carly Smithson and the 16 or so year old David Archuleta and the nurse Amanda Overmyer.

Two seem to be from the Orlando or vicinity area-- Robbie Carrico and Ramiele Malubay.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

See that someone voted for Kristy Lee Cook? Remember her as being very impressive in the auditions from various towns weeks of American Idol 7, but was not sure of her name. She was not given much air time if any during the Hollywood week of American Idol.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Anyone have an opinion on which 4 American Idol contestants will leave tonight??

I am guessing maybeAmy Davis andKady Malloy from the women andChikezie Eze and
Danny Noriega from the men? Who knows though when Simon Cowell bad mouthes a contestant it often brings that person more votes rather than less.

Coming from a female perspective, it doesn't get any better than Michael Johns. I really believe whether he wins Idol or not, he's a natural born superstar. :-*

He seems to have that star quality as you wrote. :agree:
Coming from a straight male perspective think that Syesha Mercado also has this. Think many gays would like Michael Johns as well.

Anyone familiar with the web-site Vote for the Worst. http://votefortheworst.com/ What do you think of it? They try to get voters to call for whomever they designate as the worst singers each week.

Still cannot understand how some past winners of American Idol won and how others lost?? Some seem to get ardent fans who just keep hitting the phone lines as much as they can.

I think that "votefortheworst" website is awful. That's what kept Sanjya going for so long. I love American Idol. My brother-in-law (recently deceased) introduced me to it. He said it's a great family show. He, his wife and kids would all gather around to watch it. They would pick their favorites, bicker over each contestant, but the great thing is that the show brought the entire family together for 2 or 3 nights a week. I don't know why the people that started the votefortheworst website set out to kind of ruin American Idol. Because it really does have an effect on it. Anyway, I just love the show and now, since my brother-in-law has passed away, when I watch it I always think of him. What I especially like is that even when someone doesn't win, they can go on to become superstars i.e. Jennifer Hudson winning the Oscar and Chris Daughtry with his smash CD. It gives young talented people a showcase and chance they would never have had before.
I love it! (And I love Michael Johns! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Sorry about your brother-in-law. :(

Do agree that votefortheworst has an impact on American Idol especially with Sanjaya Malakar as you wrote. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanjaya_Malakar

Who do you think will go tonight on American Idol? My guesses are Luke Menard and Jason Castro from the men and Amanda Overmyer and Alexandrea Lushington from the women. I only got 1 out of 4 right last week though. Batting 250 only. :dontknow:

My AI picks last week for yanks who survived did a lot better this week.

Taltarzac 02-29-2008 05:57 PM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Still batting .250 with my picks for who will survive the Thursday night cuts. These may get a lot easier though as we get to know more about the various contestants and where their strengths and weaknesses lie. In addition, the voting blocs effects should be easier to see as American Idol progresses from week to week.

I wasn't surprised at this weeks cuts except for Alexandria Lushington. OMG didn't little David Archuleta do a wonderful rendition of Imagine!

Yes. Think we already have the winner of this season's AI unless David Archuleta chokes at some point further on in the competition.

I was very surprised though with the young lady of 16 or 17 Alaina Whitaker (?) going she seemed to do quite well in her performances.

I am kind of tone deaf though.

I agree with both of you. I think that this year's winner is found. David will have to throw this one away not to win.
I think the season is still worth watching though...there is some very good talent.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

I like American Idol even if the first month or so is more about getting ratings from bad singers rather than discovering new talent in the US. Seems more like the Gong Show up through Hollywood week.

They probably miss a lot of really good singers though that do not have some kind of gimmick during those traveling auditions.

Simon Cowell and company have really created a new very influential movement in US music with AI. Think it is for the best too.

This season does seem to have some of the best talent so far.

Assuming this week is 80's week i think young David should sing a Rick Astley song (perhaps "Together Forever"). Same sort of powerful voice.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Anyone have any picks yet for who will go Thursday for the American Idol men? I taped the AI show last night as I was busy watching Blade: the Series on DVD. I am a big Mercury Girl-- Jill Wagner-- and horror movie/TV show fan. So, I have not actually watched the men in AI perform just yet.

Taltarzac 03-06-2008 01:13 PM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

For the men tonight, believe that voters probably least voted for Luke Menard and Chikezie Eze.

Have not watched the women from last night on American Idol yet today. Was watching Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium on DVD or at least the first part of it. Was in a state of wonder though with some of the details in that movie. Mr. Magorium sure looked good for his age. :joke:

Anyone have any ideas about who will go? I am not saying who should go just who the voters probably voted least for during the past two nights for men and women on AI?

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

For the women: Kady and Kristy

For the men: Luke and Jason

Russ Boston? I will have to view the videotape of the AI ladies to see if I agree with you. Think that Kristy can get by for a while though with the male viewers on looks alone though as some of the AI men can do the same with the women.

Would be really surprised if Luke Menard lasts another week though.

After finally getting to watch the women on videotape from last night's American Idol; unfortunately, you may be right Russ Boston with your picks for the women on whom gets cut. Tend to agree with you on that score as these two female performances--Katy and Kristy-- seemed the weakest.

Well, I agree with all the people cut today except Danny. I found him funny, entertaining, different to say the least and he really had a wonderful voice. I so glad Amanda is still in. I think she's a great natural rocker. She's a natural. But, I still love little David A. He's such a sweetie and had a rich, pure voice.

Good show last night.

I was concerned that Danny would become the next Sanjaha(sp?).
He does have a good voice but I think to quirky to continue on.

This season we have an exciting group, they are all so good and can only get better. The cuts are going to be very hard to watch.

Russ_Boston 03-07-2008 03:56 PM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Agree with the Sanjah comparison. He couldn't win anyway (voice wise) so let's avoid the agony of the Howard Stern 'vote for the worst' situation. The rest of the gang will now be judged on talent with the possible exception of Kristy for the women and Michael for the men who are more sizzle than substance IMHO.

beady 03-07-2008 04:05 PM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Russ: I agree Michael is just eye candy, voice and stage presence does not compare to others.
Kristy has potential but will she use it!!!!!

Taltarzac 03-07-2008 04:23 PM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Got 2 out of the 4 right this time for my picks for cuts. There seem to be a lot of variables going on here along with the singing each week comes the VotefortheWorst web-site, fan bases for each singer, local community loyalties towards each contestant, and the eye candy feature. Simon Cowell is another influence as if he attacks a contestant too harshly it seems to pile up a lot of votes for that person.

I think Amanda rocks. Unfortunately she seems to have a "dark" personality.

Russ_Boston 03-07-2008 06:57 PM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

I think she needs to lose the Lily Munster look though. She's not real eye candy to begin with but that look really doesn't work for her. Streaks in her hair would be fine but that white skunk look is awful IMO.

I think David A. has a good chance of winning, he has universal appeal to teeny boppers and mommies alike. evil6

Michael might just be eye candy, (and I heard he used to be a Chippendales dancer), but I sure enjoy his performances. ;)

Agree about David Archuleta's chances for winning. Ironic thing with American Idol as the idea seemed to be to discover the US's hidden talent in the 16 to 28 age bracket. David Archuleta is good enough now that he probably never needed AI to get that big break.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

I agree, Russ. She's not a bad looking girl, but her hair is really ugly and hard. Her face would be so cute if she didn't play the tough girl all the time. As it is, she looks hard as nails. If I just listen to her it's like listening to Joplin. Maybe the "tough girl act" is to match her voice. She is supposed to be a nurse. There might be someone tenderhearted under that hard shell exterior.

Amanda Overmyer reminds me often of the Bride of Frankenstein with her hair. Maybe, this is how she wants to appear? Many hard metal rock stars look like this or even quite a bit worse in appearance.

Think Kristy Lee Cook or David Hernandez will go tonight? I am leaning towards Mr. Hernandez seeing the end of the show song finale.

Russ_Boston 03-12-2008 05:42 PM

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

Agree with both picks. David is lucky he had a lot of cache going in.

Re: Favorite American Idol Contestant

OMG I hope Kristy goes tonight! I can't stand looking at her bowlegs anymore. Why doesn't someone tell her about that! And I don't think she could have butchered that song anymore than she did. David was awful but I think he just had a bad night. I love Amanda! She probably won't win, but she's really my favorite. But, I also loved Janice Joplin. I think Amanda is what she is. I don't think she's trying to be tough, I think from the rural area she came from, with an entire family that rides Harley's, I really don't think she's putting on an act. Chacezeei, did a great job, but he doesn't grab me. Same for David Cook. I definitely think Kristy is going tonight. I think she's a one trick pony, I did like her originally singing Amazing Grace. But that's one of my favorite songs anyway. It should be interesting. ;)
