DOG OWNERS, please pick up your Dogs POOP
I recently noticed a Dog Owner walking his Dog on a neighborhood corner property. The owner appeared to be not paying any attention to the dog. After the dog pooped the dog owner walked away without picking up the poop. I backed up the car and informed the owner as he was walking away that he did not pick up the dogs poop!! He stated I always pick up the dogs poop!! I stated well you didnt pick it up this time. Pick up your dogs poop. He told me to go XXXX myself. Another day I was driving into my neighbor hood and I noticed the same owner again not picking up after his dog!!

THE VILLAGES is a beautiful place to live!! Our neighbors spend a great deal of money on maintaining their property to keep it looking nice.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG THEN WALK THE DOG ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S!!!!!!!!

Thank you, Cat36, for your post. I have a corner lot and am the victim of this kind of illegal and anti-social behavior on a near daily basis. The folks who think that using another's yard for their dogs restroom are self-centered, disrespectful of their neighbors, and basically despicable folks in general. Thank goodness that some dog owners are respectful of their neighbors property.

I live in a small village in UK. with more horses than people, and you think you have a poop problem?
Some of the loads are so big, car traffic treat the piles as roundabouts!

We like to ride our bikes through the new areas where houses are being built.

One time we saw a couple looking at a corner lot with (I think) a realtor and I said, "That is a nice lot if you like to pick up dog crap."

"Help me, Rhonda" -- here we go again. But I do understand that this is a new topic to some.....

I admit to profiling people walking their dogs as to whether they are carrying poop bags or not. But-----are some of them carrying those bags just for show? Hmmmmmmm.

At least the horses arent carnivores. Horse manure is not required to be picked up on a roadway. Many people actually grab the shovels to use it in their gardens. Dog crap is vile. Frankly, no matter how much one loves a pet, I could never walk behind it and collect steaming excrement by hand. No dogs ever for me.

No doubt some carry props to make others think they pick up after their dogs. I just recently had a neighbor (4 doors down) who I caught on my cameras, that would walk her dog on the golf cart path behind my home after dark and then cut through my yard to access my front lawn. She and her dog would walk through the middle of the front lawn of 5, 6, 7 houses before returning home. Why anyone, much less a woman, would walk behind homes and cut through people's yards in the dark is unexplainable...and no, she's not walking a Pitbull or Doberman that could protect her...LOL. When I confronted her and kindly asked her to please stay off my lawn and explained the numerous reasons...one being that the alarm/camera notifications interrupted whatever we were doing...She chuckled and walked away. Once I found out where she lived, I approached her and her husband with the same request, and she denied her ever coming on my lawn...even though I kept telling her I had her on numerous videos. I kept reiterating my request and she kept saying "Are you kidding me?"...Insane! The husband agreed that no one wants dogs peeing or leaving poop on their lawn, and upon watching the numerous videos, he said...yep, that's her...LOL.

The sense of entitlement of the dog owners in this community is overwhelming ! Don't have a dog now, but always had one or more as kids were growing up. NEVER, not one time, did any member of our family (kids included) take OUR dog to the home of a neighbor to do its business. If our dog did not "deposit" as expected in OUR yard.... then no walk followed. What is it here ? We are not on a corner, but I have watched the lawns of our two neighbors on each corner across the street. It is a regular dog poop park at BOTH of those homes. One guy brings at least THREE dogs, all tied together, to the "dog poop park" lawns of both of these neighbors. Unmitigated gall ! Yes, there are responsible dog owners here, but WHY not have your dog poop in YOUR yard and then go for your walk ? And only 2% are arrogant and entitled, more like 40% from what we see in our neighborhood ! Have even seen people with dogs carrying bags of poop (which apparently they did at least pick up) and THEN, toss them into the bushes of other people's homes, and also have watched them deposit in the waste PAPER bins at the mail station POOL area. The stench in summer is completely overwhelming, but then, at least the privileged class of dog owners do not have endure that smell in their OWN garbage can at their homes. Where does this attitude come from ? Does anyone think these folks have always been like that, even in their former neighborhoods ? Or, is this a product of advanced age ? Puzzles me !

Ya that’s me with a corner lot and I can’t believe how rude and inconsiderate some dog owners can be! It’s not many by no means but there’s always a few that makes all look bad. There is a couple up the street from me that every morning will practically drag their dog to my side yard for it use. They do clean most of it up but the smell must still be there as all day other dogs will stop and stiff that spot. The point is have a little respect for your neighbors, if it’s your dog, then please use your own yard for it’s business! I love dogs but I didn’t spend this type of money and move here to be a doggie rest area!

I understand that people get tired of dog poop threads. But as long as there are people who let their dogs use other people’s lawns, these threads are going to continue. I think some dog owners underestimate how truly upset it makes home owners.

I don't think they underestimate the anger of their victims. I think they don't give a sxxt about their neighbors. In fact, I'm sure some of the sickos actually get a little thrill thinking how they are getting away with having their dog crap in someone else's yard.

We’ve been visiting The Villages since 2016 and finally moved here last year. I purposely avoided buying a corner property for this exact reason. For some reason, some people think a corner lot is a public dog restroom where they don’t need to clean up after their pet. I don’t know why, I just know I’ve seen this first hand too many times.

I agree with you. BUT, I also noticed that some of our seniors that dude like balance, not been able to bend over to pick up the dog poop. recently I saw one that almost fell face down, trying to make the good stuff.

There are many homes with cameras in my neighborhood. When several of us talked about experiencing someone inconsiderate, we tracked her back to her house. Printed out screen captures too. And together we all had a talk with her. After she denied things, we showed her the pics. She still had an arrogant, entitled response. We then left it as simply... If you continue, we will return your crap to your house. I might have heard some people say it could end up in your car, or on your roof, or smeared on your windows and walls, or dozens of piles in your bushes and yard. We also told her she would receive a "no trespassing" order from the sheriff if she continues. She saw the wisdom of our chat.
Sad it had to come to such a conversation.

Take a video and post it on the specific village facebook page and/or YouTube. The inconsiderate a-hole will hate being embarrassed in front of all his neighbors.

I think it is the same mindset that lets them think 'ill get a fake service vest to bring poopsie into stores and restaurants' is OK. They love poopsie, therefore, everyone must love poopsie and its an honor to get one of poopsies deposits on your lawn.

I'm amazed that either people don't look for cameras or are oblivious to them.

Half way there, come on man, we can do better.

I notice it’s only dog owners tired of these threads, perhaps they are the perpetrators? Solution is simple, your dog, your property. It doesn’t belong anywhere else.

It is obvious to me by some of the responses who the dog owners are, and probably some of them are guilty of the nasty practice.

Another trick I haven't learned: Identifying dog owners from their ToTV posts.

Obvious dead giveaway: "when I walk my dog...."

Not obvious (at least to me): "thank god this subject is finally being addressed" or "How about not posting the same tired thread over and over?"

I guess since I find these threads mildly amusing then I must not be a dog owner?

You should not have to do this, BUT...
Home Deport sells "Dog and Cat Repellant" or "Dog Mace" (online). The first you spray by hooking the bottle on to a garden hose, the second are granules.

One application is said to last 30 days.

Maybe if they allowed "small" gates, fences around people's lawns this may alleviate some of the problem.

There is no plausible reason to not allow this.
