Chicago homicides up 52%, with vast majority of victims Black or Latino

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says there have been 677 homicides so far this year.

Murders and shootings are up 52% from the same time last year in Chicago.
With more than three months remaining in 2020, there have been more homicides in Cook County, which includes Chicago, than in all of last year, according to a report.


The vast majority of the 2020 homicides — 565 — occurred inside the Chicago city limits. The medical examiner’s office said all but 92 of the victims were shot to death, and that of the 677 homicide victims, 521 were Black and 102 were Latino

So in other words lets defund the police and send a social worker to the scene of the crime.

Makes one wonder what the voters will do in the next election?

Isn't it unfortunate that the BLM movement doesn't see this as a priority. "It's not part of their charter."
They want to defund the police instead of investing in programs that might reduce gangs, set young blacks on the right path, and reduce the murders of young blacks. :ohdear:

Many ethnic groups continue to support an ideology that has probably abandoned them years ago.

This is all about gang warfare. Legalize drugs and most of it will go away.

And, no one wants to defund police; they just want to divert some of the funding and use it to invest in programs like you mention. It’s inappropriate to use gun-toting, skittish police to deal with social issues. Using people trained in social issues is a better choice.

I have a different idea. Why not tell us what you have done?

As long as the same side leaders stay in office.....it’s not going to change. Someone a while back wrote a great piece on this subject talking about the gangs and the drug issues.

Oh, that is rich. Use people trained in social issues. Next time a violent crime is committed, call a social worker. That "social issues" training will come in very handy once they arrive in perhaps four or five days. Case solved. Geeez.

Horace Mann once said You should be ashamed to die without having won at least one small victory for your fellow human beings.

Remember to call a social worker next time someone points a gun at you or attempts to break into your house. We dont want those “skittish” police to show up and protect your life and property while putting their own life in jeopardy
