Forgot about that one. Basically Sub shops do not go too well in TV. Everyone is happy with the Subway and the Publix Deli Subs.

...did not seem to do very well. The other one in the Villages seems to be surviving.
Firehouse Subs - Find Location Not much has lasted in the location where Firehouse Subs has been. Seem to remember a different restaurant there almost every year over the past 7 years. |

There is a Charley's Steak House in Orlando, it has good ratings all the time. I'm hoping there's a place like Longhorn Steakhouse or Outback when the shopping area is finished near Brownwood.

We went to Charley's Steak House in Orlando about 4 or 5 years ago. The Orlando Sentinel, which does a survey each year, and Charley's was rated the number 1 Steak House in Orlando at that time. The food was excellent then.....Yes, don't get it mixed up with Charley's Subs. Charley's Subs was (maybe still is) in the Ocala Mall. We could use another restaurant in Colony Strip Mall.

Don't know much about Charley's Subs.
But O'Charly's might be good. |

We were in Paddock Mall yesterday and I ate at Charley's Subs. They are pretty good, I like mine with just grilled onions, my wife gets lettuce & tomato. Don't get mayonaise, a good steak sub would be ruined by mayo. Also anytime we go to Florida Mall in Orlando I will go to Charley's. Get the combo, their fries are pretty good as well. I've had a steak sub from Chi's at Spanish Springs and it was just too greasy. The ones from Beef O'Bradys are a little better, but not much.

My experience with Charley's Steakhouse is that it is good - on a whole different level than Outback or Longhorn. Having lived in Central FL for more than 30 years, it is certainly not the best that Florida has to offer. Locally, I would suggest stepping up to Jeffrey Paul's or Marks Prime. If you are willing to travel for 90 minutes Ruth's Cris and Capital Grill are present in both Tampa and Orlando. For a further step up, I suggest Del Frisco's in Orlando. Each of these steps costs more, as it should. The crown jewel is, of course, Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa. The steaks are, I believe the best available anywhere in this world (and yes, I have been to Peter Luger's and the great LV steakhouses), the wine list is quite simply incomparable. Enjoy the kitchen tour, enjoy your Captain's expertise, enjoy your steak (I recommend the Chateaubriand) and finally enjoy your after dinner drinks and dessert upstairs. The digestive list is at least as good as the wine list.
If price is your primary concern, then avoid these restaurants and stick with Outback. You can actually do much better with steaks from Fresh Market and a properly heated Stainless skillet. If you wish to enjoy special times with that special someone, then give my list a thought.
