Default Brewpub

We have been to TV a couple of times now. So far, I have found the best selection of draft beer ia at TGIF at LSL. However, that is not really even that great but it beats the endless places that serve Sam Adams, Bud, Miller Light and Yuengling. Does anybody know of any places in the area that have a good selection of craft beers and microbrewery beers ?

This post was in 2010. Has the situation improved since then? Are there any new pubs serving craft beers now?

no, and there won't be. Alcohol must be purchased from the developer -owned distributor according to the leases, and brew pubs are not profitable enough to support the lease.

You would think someplace in the near by area there should be one. Closest one I know about is Ocala.

Wish we had one combined with a good sports bar that had all the sports games on.

We're beer snobs too and have found enjoyable brews at Orlando Brewing Co., it's in an industrial area, but worth the search. It is the only craft brewer we've found. We have a kegerator and fill our keg there. Of course you can enjoy beer from their taps on site, too. They have music in the evenings sometimes.

There used to be ...One in Augustines but it.s gone and at LSL Whiskey River had a good selection and it's gone so there must not be enough people willing to buy a more expensive brew ...

If you're ever in Ocala, you might try Pi on Broadway. They've got some great microbrews on tap, and their pizza is very good. Pi on Broadway - Where great beer and great food are a way of life.

It's a great reward after a day of shopping at Ocala's malls!

Default Brewskis

I believe the closest one is Mount Dora Brewing on Highland St. and yes they serve Orlando Brewing beers on tap too. Cask & Larder in Winter Park just opened up too.
You need a federal license to brew beer. That's why Spanish Springs Brewing is gone.

That is not exactly true. There are establishments in leased space in TV, specifically in Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing that serve wine and beer and are under no obligation to buy " from the developer-owned distributor...".

GarVino's in Lake Sumpter Landing has a very wide selection of brew pub and specialty beers...none on tap but a great bottle selection....most of which are not sold at other bars around here. I go there regularly to have my cigar and a beer. They just got in my favorite which is a Burboun Barrel Stout.

Gator'd Dockside in Spanish Springs serves Magic Hat and Shock Top which are outstanding.

Correct - It's The Villages Buying Pool. Anyone can join, it's actually run by Kindred Spirits.

Default Tony's Bar & Grill

A friend in Ocala recommended Tony's Bar & Grill, 2711 SW 27th Ave, Ocala (352) 390-8188, which is supposed to have 40 craft beers on tap, as well as, good pub fare. It's near Best Buy in Ocala.
