Square 1 is in the same county. They allow dogs on the patio.

The Florida legislature passed a law a few years ago that allows dogs to frequent outdoor patios, if the restaurant wants to partake in this law. It's up to the individual restaurant. If a resident has a problem with the law, contact your local state representative or senator and tell them to repeal the law. |

We were at Longhorn Steakhouse and there was a poodle in the booth across the aisle from us. I sent an email to Longhorn Corporate and they didn't care.

That's right, and the County gave their approval.

He's the same size as a poodle.....I never thought of bringing him to dinner with me....but now...maybe... |

We went to Cheesecake Factory in Tampa a few years ago. There was a man with a small dog inside. I asked our waiter about it. He said it's a service dog. The man has been going there with his wife of 55 years, a few times a week for a long time, He lost his wife 6 months before and didn't function well without her and needed the dog to help him cope. I said no problem.

I have observed folks getting upset with just seemingly anybody calling their dog a "Service Dog". I understand but I see some real possibility of abuse. I don't like government regulation but this issue may have to go there so when a person says their dog is a "Service Dog" it has been certified as such. IMHO a restaurant is no place for your pet----a true "Service Dog" is fine.

Maybe you should get signs made up and protest.
Block the cart path to any place the does not do what you want.

Unfortunately the Feds are already involved. They have approved miniature horses, pigs, monkeys, etc. I'm thinking of putting a gator on a leash and suing if I get turned away from a restaurant or store.

The problem then becomes when told patrons cannot have pets in food service area, pet owners will whip out their easily bought on line service animal paperwork & vests and wave it in the Manager's face. Saw it done recently at Panera @ Lake Sumter where the woman had TWO leashed small dogs and WALKED them right into the dining room where patrons were eating. I felt sorry for the manager on duty, as she had to accept the paperwork for what it supposedly was. Two Service Dogs for one lady - Really? Agree with earlier post. Call Belle Glade or any of his other establishments & speak with the owner. Can't remember his name... Good luck. |
