Default Don't ask for Toast

Went to HH Restaurant after golf yesterday. Ordered the Golfer special, Tuna sandwich on rye. Made the tragic error of asking that my bread be toasted. We don't do that I was told by my server, you can't get the bread toasted when you order a special. OK, so I had to eat the filling and leave the bread on the plate simply because I would never have known it was stale had they toasted it. What a joint!

They had already broken their own rules by giving it to you on rye. Menu says no substitutions on Golfer's Special and the tuna comes on wheat. I guess they must be having enough trouble "cracking the nut" that they cannot afford the milliwatt seconds of energy required to toast your bread.

I'm curious, did the special come on rye...or did you ask for it instead of wheat?

Is it expensive to make?

I'm a little short on bread at the moment.

The first time you make it could be expensive if you don't own a toaster.

I have some Toaster Tips I could pass along so you don't learn the hard way like I did.

Well, I guess that restaurant is toast as far as you are concerned.

Let me make a toast: I'll drink to that!

Here is the menu for Hacienda Hills.

The Golfer's special is priced at $6.29 if you order a beverage.

Lunch — Hacienda Hills Bar & Grill
