The owner of Evan's Prairie has nothing to do with O'Sheas.

Oops, I saw after I wrote this that someone already answered this post. I had finished reading the whole thread.

I don't think Rickg is being unreasonable...it sounds like EP failed repeatedly to satisfy his dinner party. And thanks to zonerboy who started a new thread titled "Economic Reality" that speaks to the heart of this issue. Also, thanks to Mulligan who added appropriate insight with "good, fast, cheap...you can pick any two". My personal preference for the BIG THREE with dining at TV, I'd pick good, medium-fast, medium-cheap. (Hang in there with me...I'll return to this thought...)

Many years ago, shortly after we moved to a new location, Mrs. Pirate complained long and hard about the management of a large retail operation. Eventually we saw an ad in the paper - they needed to hire someone to manage that exact retail operation. Since my BB had extensive experience in retail management I asked if she wouldn't accept her own challenge and make it better...or in guy-to-guy speak...put-up or shut-up...although I never said and never would say that to my wife! She was hired for the job and over a period of time she completely turned around that operation. I couldn't have been more proud of her and I still talk about it today with friends who were there and can attest to her turnaround success.

Also, I occasionally see threads where people want to become Villagers but need to find temporary work while their finances stabilize during their transition to retirement. SO, (returning to the original thought) do we have any Villagers who used to work as restaurant managers, chefs and/or wait staff...who would be willing to accept the challenge and make it better? I don't personally have that experience so no one would appreciate my efforts. But, I promise to not engage in any age discrimination; I'd be happy to have an experienced waitperson - youngsters are not required!

We had agroup there Friday evening. Our first waitress took our drink order never ever returned. Service was poor and I also think they have cut back on quailty of food. Took two plus hours to finish and pay. Our final waiter kept saying he was sorry, but as everyone has mentioned, something has change.

PS: Owner and Jose, General Manager were clearing tables.

Sounds like a job for Robert Irvine and his Restaurant Impossible crew!

I was a cook and chief bootle-washer in the Navy for 12 years, working 12-16 hour days. Opening the galley at 04:45 AM and securing the area around 8PM. It was very exhausting. I have many, many oven burns to boot. And varicose veins that will not go away!!

Got out and got my 4 year degree in Hospitality Mgmt and went on to work in restaurants the next 7 yrs.

Got out of that field and will never go back. Employees stealing, calling in sick during the weekend rush, coming to work late. Most employees were wonderful but a few made my life miserable. I finally left and have never looked back.

People don't want to work 60-70 hr weeks here in the Villages, mopping up grease and dealing with rude customers. If they do, it is because they are sadomasochists. (without the sexual pleasure) JMHO

Slow service is a problem. The manager now knows about it and I am sure the OP reflected the poor service in his tip. At least, the OP did not say he would never return and it sounded like he will give them another chance. That is how to do a good judging.
You must be reading the OP post wrong there Buggyone, it states he ordered it Medium Rare.

We had dinner at EP last week. Had the 2 for 25 meals. Hubby had scallop/pasta dish and I had chicken alfredo. Decent meals, not fantastic but good. Salad that came with meals were good, I had the Caesar salad and he had garden salad. We both had peach martini like drinks, were good but cost almost as much as are meal, lol. We sat out on the patio, view was beautiful, entertainer was good, did a little slow dancing, all in all a good experience and would definitely go back. IMHO.
