Default Fiesta Grande - Middleton

We had lunch there today and the new place and the food is awesome. I had chicken enchiladas and the Mrs. had beef/chicken nachos; both were more than enough for a 2nd meal.

We liked Colony and really like Brownwood. Not sure that we’ll try Middleton but good to hear the new place is doing well.

There is only one meal I purchase at Fiesta Grande. The Fajitas Bruschetta are my favorite. They also have excellent Margaritas, chips and queso.

I had the Mexican Plate the day it opened and it wasn't great. Then I had Carne Asada last week, and it was absolutely fabulous....best i have ever had. The large draft beers are enormous and $6.25.....great deal.

Funny how a single experience can affect you. I ate at the Brownwood location exactly once. It was the greasiest, nastiest chile relleno dish I had ever eaten. Now I can’t bring myself to even give them a second chance.

Had a simple beef taco meal in Brownwood some months ago. Like the above post says, one bad meal can nix a return.
Tho I’m a Mexican food fan and must give a second chance.

It’s a chain restaurant with very little difference in prep or food quality. All locations shouldn’t have much difference in dishes prepared. Service differs sure, but the entree I am not a fan of At Colony, is the same entree at Brownwood, still not a fan.

The guacamole is excellent at any of the 3 locations, as is the 4 entrees we enjoy. Ethnic Food in any restaurant can be good or bad depending on where one hails from.

Default Now a snack and watering hole destination, not a dinner destination

‘So true! Based on my bad experience there with their ground beef (in any entree), which was ground so much that it was like patee and had the consistency of refried beans, I struggle to go back to enjoy their delicious guacamole, chips and salsa, margaritas, and draft beer. So, Fiesta Grande has become only a snack and watering hole destination for me, no longer a dinner destination. Perhaps I may one day try their carne asada made with marinaded steak; ‘sounds tempting based on another poster’s recommendation…

I have given the Brownwood location at least a dozen visits, hoping each time to try something “close” to decent Mexican food. Have been disappointed everytime with very “Americanized” entrees. They seem afraid to use traditional Mexican spices, appealing to a clientele that likes “bland” Mexican food. Their salsa tastes like ketschup.

Like a previous poster said, their chili relleano’s are probably the worst I’ve ever had.

It’s a challenge to find good, authentic Mexican in Florida. Probably the closest are the taco trucks outside of the bubble.

We enjoyed Iguana Mia in the Fort Myers area 15 years ago but don't care to eat at food trucks or "truly Mexican restaurants". After our visits to Mexico and observing the beef carcasses being transported on the back of trucks with flies sticking to them, we lost that appetite.

We had lunch at the Middleton location today and we shared the Carne Asada.

The quantity of food was plenty for 2 with a 1/4 left over, the service was good (when the meal came out incorrectly the server caught the errors in the order just as it got to the table and they remade it quickly).

The quality and flavor of the food was somewhere between poor and unexceptionable (probably why there was so much left over). The steak lacked flavor and was at least 1/2 gristle, the beans runny and tasteless, the chips and salsa were good, the rice was good, sour cream good, tortillas very good.

The beer was fresh and cold, $6 for a 12oz draft, wife had water.

$35 for the meal including tax.

We won't go back.

Colony location is not as good (which isn't saying much) as Brownwood IMO. Always order the same thing (birria tacos) and everything else we've tried has been disappointing. Better places to go.

The closest to good authentic Mexican food that I have found nearby here in Florida is at La Placita Mexican Market & Restaurant in Leesburg. Not too far from TV, the address is 2401 West Main Street, Leesburg FL 34748. Their phone number is 352-901-6789. Check it out when you’re hungry for real Mexican food.
