We were not impressed with the ambiance at all. The food was OK but nothing special. We thought Thai Ruby was beautiful but service was rather indifferent and my pad thai was totally bland.....and we really like good thai and asian food. Can anyone help us out here? We also like good indian food.

I love sushi. The best that I've had down here is at VKI in Lake Sumter Landing followed very closely by Sakura. Asian Bistro is also very good. If you want to fill up on fair quality sushi for a great price drive up the the Ocean Buffet in Ocala. You can eat a hundred dollars worth of sushi for about ten bucks. It's a buffet and the quality of the sushi is not great, but it's ok and it's very inexpensive.

The place had zero atmosphere, like a take out.

We stick to (3)Sukura, (2)Thai Ruby and my favorite (1)Bamboo Bistro
I ate at Thai Ruby a few years ago when I did my lifestyle visit and bought my house. I loved it. Then I finally brought my wife there a few months ago and it was awful. The service was very slow and there was almost no one else in the restaurant. The appetizers were all over cooked. The Pad Thai was terribly bland and the other dish we had was just fair. What a disappointment.

I agree about Bamboo Bistro and Sakura, both are very good, but I like VKI even better, especially for sushi.

You go to a Chinese restaurant for ambience? Hmmmm, interesting. How do you like the ambience at, say, Golden Corral?

I LOVE Koyami. The food is great, the presentation of the food is great and the place is very clean and the cooking area is out in the open. The interior is very basic, but I've still enjoyed some great meals there. I've been to plenty of Chinese places with great decor and awful food so style is pretty low on my list.

Love sushi but never heard of VKI. Where at LSL is it located?

I like the sushi at Bamboo Bistro very much.

Discovered I would be housebound for a few days so what to do? Koyame to the rescue. I decided to order and pickup and we used the online menu to do that. Oh, how convenient! Found a gap in picking up between 3pm and next time was 5pm, so hurried and ordered for 3pm. We placed an order for two days of food and finding that will also give us leftovers. Lots to eat and for me it is good tasting. Can't beat that!

VKI is the Japanese Steakhouse at LSL. It's just around the corner from the movie theater. Also, Koyame is located in the shopping center behind Denny's on 441. It's at the opposite end of the shopping center from Ollie's (another great place to try if you don't already know about it).
