I wasn’t going to bring it up but my first time in Vietnam was fighting with the French in 1954 after numerous years in Vietnam ,Laos and Cambodia I found myself in the last weeks before the fall trying to hold the line at different places with my brave Vietnamese paratroopers . So good luck with the hats , pins , trophies and fast food discounts. I just prefer the respect of the guys who fought on either side of me .
So, you were 15 when you were fighting with the French in Vietnam? Impressive!

My twin sister, both veterans, work at the Lady Lake location. We visited upon moving here and fell in love with Mission BBQ and all it stands for. I invite you to come visit and enjoy some wonderful food and amazing service.

I’ll tell you another thing about the hats and badges ,I stopped asking people years ago when I saw people with airborne hats , ranger tabs , Purple Hearts some of them would say I’m honoring so and so or I wasn’t airborne I did support them in some capacity ,not everyone I asked but enough that I never asked another guy wearing a hat and again I hid behind no one , see post 42 , but people whether there vets or non vets have a right to own opinion. I don’t know of any of my close friends around the world that put in a lot of time in tough places ever wearing gear , some people are quiet patriots just like some who are quiet about there religion ,I’m one of those although Ive made the mistake of putting it out here sometimes because I get challenged for my views and that’s my problem , I shouldn’t have to justify my views , just put them out there. I will admit to one perk I do use , friends told me about getting breaks for traffic citations for having a Purple Heart plate so I went and got one and I’ve gotten a break in a few different states because of it . I know it’s a little hypocritical because of my views but it’s a one time thing lol and I don’t ask for a free lunch , just a break from a state trooper lol
I don’t have a problem with however you deal with your postwar history but I do have a problem with your judgmental comments of those who find exceptional treatment for their service validating.

We buried a wonderful family member at age 35 with colon cancer following a stint driving those d*mn tankers around full of who knows what in Vietnam and burying two young men from our high school who never had a chance at life. They never saw any reward for their contribution to this nation’s service.

If you don’t enjoy recognition, so be it. But chiding and mocking those precious veterans that find validation and recognition isn’t necessary.

I also had a better chance of living then I did at the time in the USA and of course you already know this story I told it once before , your also welcome to come over anytime and see my discharge , from the 1st Foreign Parachute Regiment of the fFrench Foreign Legion

as I said how many times do people need to be thanked ,how much recognition do people need , is there an end or is it infinite, to me it’s just over the top but go ahead it’s fine , that’s my last word on it ,I’m done with this thread you’ll be answering to an empty post, we’ll look I’ll never change anybody’s opinion and they won’t do it to me and your answer to me seems like you don’t think I’ve seen any dead or care about them , I jus don’t wear it on my sleeve , but you all have a nice summer I’ll be heading home before the holiday

Interesting. Their website states the minimum age has always been 17.5, but it's your story to tell...

As to the rest of "your story", I haven't a clue... Nor do I care...

I just found the math odd...

Thank you for your service (has two meanings in this case).

As MacArthur said, I Shall Return.

With all due respect, I don't think that ANYONE is obligated to stand during the National Anthem. I'm pretty sure every patron in the place can remain seated during the playing of the Anthem, if they wish.

They do a nice job of honoring our military and first responders.

Love them, next time ask for moist brisket and if you think it’s dry they will replace.

My bride asked for a sample (the sample was big enough for both of us) and it sold her. She loved it.

I find it very special they honor our week deserved Veterans and first responders. The PTSD many silently carry is a horrible disease.

My first visit here, I was sitting at bar listening to several veterans recount their experiences. They ask the guy sitting next to me what he did for a living.

He said his recent job included standing in front of someone holding an AR15 and he ask them to guess where he worked.

He had just retired from teaching at Parkland High School.

There are hero's everywhere, especially here, don't judge a book by its cover...

that’s now and not then ,they don’t take murderers anymore either or some other major crimes , and back then they weren’t supposed to take former SS soldiers , but it was very obvious where they had cut the insignia out of there arms , part of the legion popularity with criminals was you could get a new identity after leaving , but the rules for entering were even more relaxed ,because they were dying in record numbers in the Vietnam war .you seem to forget the other options I mentioned to you why don’t you take me up on either of the other 2 and add this one your welcome to come by anytime

Great place, in my opinion, and I also really like Magoos next door.
