Gee, I didn't need this thread so early in the AM, one of my favorite topics. I grew up on White Castles, first in Indianapolis, then Cincinnati. I need to see about the closest Whataburger, I know they are around Eglin AFB area, but no longer a regular stop. I prefer establishments that have Diet Dr Pepper. The best, and I have spoke of it here before, is In-Out Burger. I seldom wear my In-Out Burger shirt I don't get ask if I am from CA. Truth is I am not, but second thing I did when landing at LAX was to head to In-Out Burger and that was 2- 3times a month for over five years. A good Trader Joe's nearby too......
Live close to the Colony Mickey Ds, and put up with their shenanigans too, but they have a captive audience. Their manager is about the same level as their counter folks in my dealings but their help is quite untrained and inept.. Arby's here is not bad (and they have Dr Pepper too) |

In my opinion, ChikFil A is not bad at all!

I tossed ChikFilA out of the mix due to their corporate beliefs.

Believe it or not, the best french fries I ever had in my life were served in the soda fountain/drug store in Tappahannock, Va., where I went to high school. They had good milkshakes too. The next best were at a burger joint at LaGuardia Airport that's not there any more. No doubt they were all made with lard or beef fat.

Two each Wendy's Bowl of Chili and Baked Potato - good service and no 45 minute wait for a table.

I like White Castle because as a little kid in Columbus, Ohio it was a huge treat to be driven out to Bexley from the south end to have a White Castle. My boy cousin had to have his without the onions. He never has had good judgment.
I love White Castles and I wish there were Burgers like Burger Boy in Columbus used to make. YUM. They had car hops too, but not on skates.

Because they close on Sunday? It's "funny" I'm not big on chicken but I do like their chicken sandwich. We had one in our regional Mall here in Illinois until about 7-8 years ago---word on the street was it was closed because the Mall insisted they stay open on Sunday. Corporate management policy is not to discriminate against anyone because of race, religion, sexual preference etc. so I read on something posted in their lobby.....

In-N-Out Burger is #1. Anything off the "secret" menu is worth all in itself. Some of the fry combinations are ohhhhhh so good.
NOT for anyone watching their weight or on any type of a diet that's for sure. But once every in a while. White Castle's are bad. I once tried to give one of the meat (?) patties to a hungry dog and he stuck up his nose and walked away after one sniff. VG |

You need to try a Swenson's Burger. Swenson's is a small locally owned car hop type drive in Akron / Canton area. Many a college student paid their way through school working the lot. Car hops ALWAYS run to the cars to get the orders and then run it in to the cook. Best burgers in the world for a local business. NOT fast food and always made to order. Galley Boy's were over the top of the good food scale. I wonder if Henry ever got a chance to have one when he was visiting the AGO? There was one about a mile from the building. VG |

Your "boy" cousin didn't want to take a chance on the onions NOT being centered. He probably grew up to be an Engineer. ![]() ![]() |
