Dunkin hasn’t made donuts on property for years. If they are out just ask them to grab couple frozen to thaw at home

They decided to make them in central locations and ship to stores. As a result of not making them in house quality is nowhere near what it used to be and of course much less to choose from in a store.

Textbook example of destruction of a great business.

Might as well buy donuts at a gas station.

I never understood Northeasterner's passion for Dunkin donuts & coffee. Or worse, Tim Hortons.

I can now give my opinion on the WH. Although we only got breakfast for lunch, I have to say I thought it was pretty good. Certainly a lot better than Darrell’s. We got fresh eggs, delicious grits, crispy bacon, and a waffle. All very good. The reason I said it was pretty good was the coffee, which was brown water. I give it an 8.

What he said on Donut King, worth every mile of the drive.

Agree about Dunkin'. They changed their name from "Dunkin Donuts" to just "Dunkin" and their quality of donuts became about as good as buying a box of cheap industrial made baked goods. We NEVER go there.

Now, as far as Tim Horton's, we are of the opinion that they have the BEST franchise coffee. I wouldn't give you a nickel for their baked goods, but coffee is superior to Dunkin.

Finally, as mentioned by others, Donut King is terrific!

Waffle House should stop calling the brown water coffee. I don’t know how they do it, open packet, push start. .

We spent close to 25 years traveling in Canada, for hockey, plus visiting family.
Tim Hortons coffee is freshly ground and brewed. The choice of up to 5 coffee blends was always appreciated. When they sold, things changed slightly but at 3am, Tim’s is a lifesaver. KK was our donut of choice, when traveling.
Someone brought Dunkin gallon jug once. Nobody drank it.

You say "the future is south". Well, the present is right here in the northern part of The Villages. There is more commercial retail and restaurants than you could ever want. The area around Lake Sumter Landing has got to me the most perfect location in all of The Villages. Of course I'm going to say that because that is where I live. But.....seriously, this location is right smack dab in the middle of everything. Even our new Costco is going to be close.

I am very happy to drive every 6-8 weeks, to all your commercial retail, that some covet. Just this morning I went from Fresh market, to Sprouts, to pinch a penny.

43 minutes of in car drive time from point A to point C. Stop go traffic, sitting at multi light changes. My car keeps travel track in miles and minutes, on a mission to get home for Costco and Kroger deliveries. Have unexpected company coming.

So glad to drive south where hopefully commercial retail stays Way up north, for those who just can’t live without. I actually looked up the last time I went to a retail shop. It’s been 6 years. I don’t need the expensive clothes, or Jimmy C shoes, or anything for the house. Have always been the person who could walk in a store and out in 15 minutes or less. Thankfully My personal shopper passion was spending time in a retail store

When we moved here wanted to be in the middle so we are just off 466a.

Realized that it is taking longer than before in order for infrastructure to come and do not have enough years to wait.

However that is just us and understand why others will live down south and nothing wrong with it.

There are many of us newer retirees that don’t want to be anywhere near a lot of retail, franchised restaurants and fast food places, and all the congestion that brings. Even with Costco coming, I will probably stick with deliveries. Shopping for many is a chore, and not an activity to fill time with in retirement. Clothing and household goods can easily be delivered. All I really need to be close to is a grocery store, pharmacy and a gas station. Like Asianthree said, I am hoping that most of the retail development stays north, but I expect to see 44 developed in the coming decade, along with 470.

Waffle House is one of those places I’ve only been at around 2:30 am after the bars closed, when I was in my 20’s. Also, it should be called Hash Brown House! I’ve never actually had a waffled from there in the nearly 50 times I’ve been but scattered, smothered and covered is a must!

Actually I tried it yesterday. There was a line of people and I waited 15 minutes. I ended up at the counter which is close to the cooking area and very cramped. I watched so many fellow seniors attempting to sit at the stools. They should learn their demographics and provide better seating. Having said that, I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit and a waffle plus a cup of tea. My bill was over $18 without a tip! Go to First Watch and spend the same for a quality meal. To me it is nothing but a greasy spoon diner. I will not be going back.

We waited about 15 minutes to be seated, while watching others that walked in behind us get promptly seated. We decided to find our own seats and then waited about another 20 minutes to get a menu, while several other folks that came in behind us were already getting service. After wasting about 35 minutes, we came to the obvious conclusion that we were most definitely never going to get served in that establishment. We walked out hungry, disappointed, and disillusioned. Needless to say, we’ll never set foot in a Waffle House again.
That is terrible. Hopefully nine years later people have learned not to judge people by the color of their skin. But after my visit to Waffle House I would not recommend it.
