Odd timing for both O'Sheas and Fridays to be closing - just as the "High Season" starts ... Why close when added customers are literally on their way here?

Here is MY guess. For one, a corporate decision, for the other, perhaps ran out of funds.

I disagree with the location issue. And Friday's was certainly golf cart accessible. Any restaurant that provides good food, good service and good value will succeed. All three require good management.

I used to go to Friday's regularly, then they got a new manager, some good people quit, service suffered, and I predicted then that within 6 months they would either close or Friday's corporate would take over.

O'shea's, went there once. Food was just OK, service was mediocre to decent, and prices did not reflect value. So it was doomed to fail. Just a matter of how long it would take.

Service, value, food quality PLUS good management and any location will succeed. I have seen some very poorly located restaurants and they worked well because they had everything else.

That's my thoughts as well. I always hate to see any place close. Especially just before the holidays. Thank goodness we are coming into season and hopefully everyone will be able to find a decent job quickly.

The timing might be related to contractual obligations, such as a lease renewal ... hard to know for sure.

The marketplace is a cruel master. I gave them three tries, but their product wasn't good enough to make me a regular. Since my wife and I drive past it often, I would comment on how each time we went past there seemed to be less cars in the parking lot. I hope the next guys can do better.

I know of several successful restaurants/bars in terrible locations that are always hoppin because they have got their ***t together.

It is sad to see people lose their jobs anytime, let alone at the Holidays. However, each and every employee is implicit in the failure of a business that fails solely due to poor service and marginal product. They are innocent victims if they are out of work inspite of their best efforts because ownership was either under-capitalized or drained cashflow or was just dysfunctional.

the formula for a successful restaurant/eatery is no big secret.
And when one like this (and many others around TV) there is no mystery at all why they did not make it.

Doing it right is just too easy and it always amazes me at the failures.....with many, many, MANY warning signs along the way that go unheeded.

No surprises and it makes no sense at all.

Seriously - what investment do you have in Word of Beer - they are very over priced and not that great

Very true

If it goes to good management - they why is Cody's still operating - it isn't because of the owner - but because of the desperate staff that need the jobs, so they bow to the Lord Almighty

Appears we have a disgruntled ex-employee.
