Agree, cooked in an Italian restaurant for some years and the only sauce I can remember that was spicy hot was the Fra Diavolo .

Italians or Italian decent - depends on how mama made the sauce = thick, thin, with onions, with peppers, with oregano, red pepper, some add sugar, some add wine - then compare restaurants sauce to mamas sauce and say it good or bad - while another has a totally different opinion ---- that is why i rarely listen to peoples opinion on sauce and form my own opinions

I've been to Red Sauce a couple of times in the past few months. Both times I ordered their special fish dish for the day and both times I was not disappointed. One was a grouper (real grouper) with risotto and the other was salmon with risotto also. Absolutely fantastic.

I THINK they need a new menu..been the same ole for years...the small salad for $7.95...is REALLY small...enough for a 4yr old...to much $$$$$ for that...stopped going there !!!!

So what is the new menu like? I always enjoyed the Penne Bolognese. Personally, I find the sauce at most of the restaurants here to be too bland. Different strokes for different folks. I like Italian spices and flavor.

I have been to Red Sauce and ordered the steamed mussels once time. They were such small mussels it was hardly worth eating them. The broth was just okay. Definitely, I would not order them again.

On the other hand - the steamed mussels at Bonefish are great every time! The steaming broth is so good and they give you all the bread you want for sopping up that delicious broth.

Got any Italian cooking advice for novices? What brands to buy and where to buy it?

Gia Russa Hot Sicilian Sauce, they also have pretty good gnocchi. You can get it at Publix.
