Default Ruby Thai = GOOD

Ruby Thai at Lake Sumter Landing contiues to impress me. The Ruby Thai Tilapia is wonderful at $13.95. If you just order it without asking for extra spice heat, it will be kind of bland. However, ask for it at "medium" or "medium plus" spice heat and it will be excellent. I would not advise any hotter. The restaurant knows a lot of Villagers cannot tolerate spicy food so they are willing to make the heat adjustable to each patron.

Hi TBugs,

We have had the same experience. Most of their food in a level of spice below that of a comparable Thai establishment outside TV. I usually tell them that I want non-Villages medium and that works just fine.

They will also customize dishes for you if you ask AND let you know when there is an upcharge for this.

One of ur favorite places in TV...

Another vote for Ruby Thai.

Having lived in Thailand for 5 years, we found that they are very capable of creating authentic thai food and very willing to adjust according to your individual wants and needs.

Also, good value for the quantity and quality of food.

Default Thai Ruby

If you like Thai Ruby you will love Bangkok Bistro in Leesburg (in the EconoLodge, across the street from the Ramshackle Cafe). My husband and I like Thai Ruby, but feel it is worth the car ride to eat in the Bangkok Bistro. One of the few Thai restaurants in the area which makes Papaya Salad and fresh (rice paper) spring rolls.Just writing this message makes me hungary, we might get in the car and have dinner there tonight.

Default Thai Rubi Good..Bangkok Bistro Better

Thai Ruby is good, but the Bangkok Bistro is much better and worth the trip to Leesburg. The Tum Yum soup is the best I have ever had and the papayia salad is a treat and not available at many Thai restaurants. The Bistro is by no means a fancy place and is not nearly as nice inside as Thai Ruby, but, the food is much tastier and it also has larger servings.

It was unfortunate that the Siam Orchid closed, their food was also very good and close by. Of the three, I would rank the Bangkok Bistro the best with the, now closed, Siam Orchid a close second and the Thai Ruby a distant third.

We miss Siam Orchid too - it was our favorite restaurant in TV.

As a person who love thai food & thinks Thai Ruby is the best restaurant around The Villages and who has reservations that anything is worth the drive of 20 looong miles (RT) , which one of these quotes do you think would get me to consider the trip???

Only one, the 1st, considers my opinion but presents me with food for thought. The other not so much.

So far this week is The Villages I have been told by various people that:
  • The church I go to does not feel like a real church to them like theirs is!,
  • A gas cart is the only cart to own, my electric is not worthy,
  • Even though I was rooting for him, Tiger Woods should never win, and here
  • The BEST thai restaurant around is their favorite - Bangkok Bistro

Give me the right to my opinion and I'll entertain yours; otherwise probably not!!

Smile Thai Ruby

We had dinner at Thai Ruby the past weekend, we thought it was very good.
Nice decor, quiet, confortable, good food, good service and resonable prices. We plan to come back whenever we are in TV.

Default Bangkok Bistro closed

The wife and I were craving Thai food and saw from these posts how good Bangkok Bistro was rated. Unfortunately it is now closed. All that construction on 441/27 probably doesn't help.

Thai Ruby is OK but still not what we are used to coming from the Boston area.

yep I guess, being that you come from the Boston Area, the food was just too much better than what you are used to!
