The main reason I make that statement is that most, if not all, credit card companies pay for any charges made by someone other than you. Folks, it's not a big deal and I make that statement from Experence.

Now, identity theft is something entirely different. Some obviously don't know the difference or get the two confused.
Credit card compromising is a pain in the arse and shouldn't be inflicted by some low life that is looking to ride the gravy train. I don't think people are overreacting it is a real problem; however, I do think threats of lawsuits over this post is overreacting. I doubt any intelligent clear thinking person would base their choice of going to a restaurant on this one post. Those that would you probably wouldn't want as customers anyway. And on the bright side Evergreen has gotten more publicity out of this then any possible potential damage from the original post. Just my opinion.

Apparently not everyone has been taken in by the email. We went there at 6pm tonight and it was packed with a long waiting list. We went to Bonifay and had a terrific dinner.

Every single time I visited our kids in Brooklyn, my Amex was compromised. Every single time it was the same thing--some kind of long distance company charges. I never used the card in the same place during those visits, even once. Four replacement Amex cards in one yea. And I didn't lose a dime.

CC fraud is not unusual nowadays, and the cc companies know it and protect you. It will be better with chip and pin in 2015, and possibly the even newer technology, if we ever adopt that. But that will help the cc companies save money more than it will help us. Maybe it will help us in that we won't have to go through the hassle of having the card shut down and wait for a new one to be issued.

Blaming the last place you visited before the fraud is jumping to conclusions. It just doesn't work that way most of the time.

They could probably get in a lot of trouble if that is the case. And, it does not seem like tracking the source code would be all that difficult unless someone a lot more sophisticated-- like a hacker-- is involved.

Moreover, I do not think any common businessperson would approach an opening of a business like that as it has such an easy way of backfiring.

I did not know there was a news article about this prank or crimes or whatever it was???

I HATE unsubstantiated rumors but when they crawl around the internet they gain a life of their own. I got what I thought was one from someone and shot back a "do we know this for sure?" and nearly got smashed by the sender.

We have to do a bit of questioning. Just to keep the truth out there and keep fear and paranoia down.

Great minds think alike... Had the same thought. If I remember correctly, some negative comments about prices and maybe bland food (comment by me, lol). If they took this chance, they are a lot smarter and braver than I would have been.

Default I bought some computer paper and Zero Coke....

...at the Lady Lake Target yesterday. Hope that more people will shop at your local Targets-- cash if you are cautious-- so that the criminal who hacked them does not continue to victimize them by harming their business. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ng-attack.html

I had donated blood at OneBlood's Big Red Bus http://www.oneblood.org/ truck at Chick-fil-A and Target was close. Also stopped by Staples.

They did seem happy to see me at OneBlood and Target. Hope other TOTVers will also frequent OneBlood and Target.

It is so neat to see people helping other people like with Evergreen Buffet & Grill. Hope you will follow suit with helping out Target and OneBlood as well. People just need blood. I try to donate every 56 days or so but its sometimes more than that. They do have a very friendly and professional group at the Lady Lake One Blood branch. The Villages OneBlood Donor Center is at:

1550 Bella Cruz Dr
The Villages, FL 32159

In my view the bigger issue is the affect credit card fraud/hacking is having on us all. We simply do not trust our credit cards safety any longer.

Many people are refusing to use their credit cards for smaller purchases.

The President & CEO of Visa is pushing for removal of magnetic strip credit cards, etc.
I use American express and they do the worrying for me.
