I really like Cane Gardens chicken with a mango salsa. And I ordered bowl of chili at Mallory Hill last night and I didn't like it at all. Hamburgers at every country club are really really good.
Name some of your favorites and not so favorites so that we can try them or avoid them. |

Number one in my book is sushi. Strangely, the best I've found is at Publix, which I find to be a sad statement. Japanese Garden is okay, but not worth the price IMO. Only thing wrong with Publix is not enough variety.
Other things are burgers and pasta (not just macaroni!). Not a fancy burger, just a plain, regular well-cooked, juicy burger. You can keep the shrooms, bacon, special sauces, etc. Best for the price is Cane Garden. Sadly, I've found Burger King to be better than some around here. Cane Garden has a lobster pizza that looks really good. Wish I could try it out (allergies suck!). Little Joe's (I think that's the name) on 441 has decent Italian food. Still haven't found any ribs that I think are worth eating. Guess I'm stuck making them at home. I think part of my problem is that I don't like sweet bbq sauce. I want a Tony Roma's. Good sauce, decent meat. Coming from San Francisco, I really, really miss good Chinese, especially Hunan. If I don't have beads of sweat on my forehead while eating, there's something wrong. Oops, forgot to mention I LOVE the breakfast buffet at Katie Belle's. Great bread pudding and I like being able to order an omelette to my taste.

We went to Mallery Hill for casual dinner for the first time. I ordered the Portabella Swiss pizza. It was absolutely wonderful. It had 6 slices. I ate 3 slices and had leftovers for the next day.

For a really great meal I LOVE the steaks at Lopez!
My favorite is Filet Marchan de Vin cooked medium! It is perfection! On thursday nights it is only $21.95! However, I must start the meal off with a cup of mushroom brie soup! This meal truly makes me a happy girl! For a good meal on the less expensive side I like a garlic roast beef sandwhich at Beef O Brady's. VERY GOOD!! With horse radish and au jus on the side! This is similar to a french Dip but it is grilled on a garlic bread (possibly ciabatta) with cheese. Now if we eat in (which is the norm) I like grilled chicken marinated in Speedy's State Fair Sauce and a ceasar salad with Girard's 50% less fat dressing.

another vote for Nancy Lopez...many wonderful items on the menu.
The mushroom brie soup is absolutely divine. For dinner, the chicken marsala tortellini (is that pasta or macaroni?) is rich and delicious and enough to take home for 2 more meals. yum, yum

One of our favorites at Cane Garden is the Italian Meatloaf. We've tried Mallory a few times and it's just not that great. Another favorite is Glenview CC. Their Pork Chop is outstanding and I've heard the Salmon is good as well. Bonefish Grill is also good and haven't had a bad dinner there yet. |

I like the lemon/lime shrimp with rice at Up The Creek. For "take-out", I like the greek salad at Crispers with two shrimp skewers.

I am enjoying the re-birth of an old classic. The trouble with writing this thread is the lines will probably get longer when more people learn of this. Tierra Del Sol has totally revamped it's restaurant operation. A new owner has cleaned up, and has done some remodeling to the dining area. The new menu has some very interesting possibilities. The new owner is an experienced Greek baker. The dinner breads are always baked fresh daily. The southern fried chicken is the most delicious, and lightest, I have ever tasted. The lasagna has some very intriguing qualities. I asked the owner about adding some truly Greek dishes, and he usually has one on the daily specials menu. You should really give this place a try, but please, keep it to yourself.

Belleview Pizza is our favorite for Italian Had ribs at Takis and thought they were pretty good Someone on this board said that the Chinese place on 42 near Mulberry was worth a try. Will report back. I suppose asking for a decent Japanese place is asking too much. I tried the sliders at Krystal near the Paddock Mall in Ocala, not even close to White Castle. Done That! The iced coffee with carmel at McDonalds is nearly half the price of Starbucks and not bad.

Love the filet at Arnold Palmer. Had Thanksgiving dinner there, though, and was really disappointed. They used processed turkey...yuck!.
Bonefish has a great filet, too. The Talipia is great, too. |
