Default Thanksgiving Dinner at Mallory Country Club

Wonderful experience at Mallory Country Club this Thanksgiving! Reservation at 1:00 pm seated promptly. The entire meal was delicious and the service efficient, and attentive. Portions were very large which made for 2 more meals that night! The turkey was exceptional with thick slices and wonderful flavor. We will return for other holiday meals -I highly recommend Mallory Restaurant.

You must have eaten a different Mallory Hills Country Club on Thanksgiving, than the one I ate at.

One poster on ND said that Mallory told them they would be serving real turkey, but, when they arrived, they were served processed and formed turkey instead. They were very disappointed. So, what kind of turkey did they serve?

I got a personal answer from Jack Suleman, telling me they cooked "real, whole turkeys".

They may have cooked whole, real turkeys, but that's not what I was served. I was served "processed, formed Turkey breast" and was told by the Server they were "only serving white breast meat".

I wonder what they did with the legs, thighs & wings of all those "whole turkeys" they supposedly cooked?

Did he say where they cooked the whole turkey? And what happened to THEM? (I’m at Mallory and I’d so much like this place to be great.)

Yep, ToTV restaurant reviews - worth every penny you pay for them.

Me too, but it's never going to be with that particular operator.

Good question. I've never been in the kitchen at Mallory, but I think I've seen enough of it to know, cooking that many turkeys would be a problem.

The rule of thumb, is to plan 1 lb per person or 1.5 lbs per person if you're cooking whole birds. I was told by someone or read, that Mallory served 700 people on Thanksgiving Day.

That's a 1000 lbs of whole turkey or (50) 20 lbs Turkeys, at 4.5 hours/turkey (unstuffed freshTurkey takes about 13 minutes/lb.). No small task.

Interesting....I just read this post on Next door...Login - Nextdoor

We went to Mallory CC with 2 other couples for Thanksgiving and were very disappointed. After I made the reservations I asked them on 2 different occasions if they would be serving real turkey from a whole bird and they said yes. When we got our meal it was proccessed and formed turkey like they sell in the deli at Walmart. Very low quality and doesn't taste good. I sold food for SYSCO for many years, this type of turkey is low cost, low quality. We're regulars at Mallory and will continue to go there, just not for a holiday meal. That was just a money grab.

I agree 100% with the above, but the restaurant owner claims we're wrong. That reviewer said he sold food for Sysco. I ran a huge country club/event venue for a few years. We should have a clue.

Gaslighting?

Check out all of their health and county infractions. Wish it wasn't so as we are right there too, but they even got dinged for adding a beer cooler to the outside seating area without license.

We took out family guests there in early November, (right before the numerous code violations were posted) and we were served Yingling Beer with ICE (oh my my!!) that was also flat.

Waitress said "Oh, okay, I'll get you 4 new ones from INSIDE."

Talk about TERRIBLE. ALL 4 meals were a disgrace.

I try to stay away from Turkey if you are eating out on Thanksgiving Day. It’s tough to prepare right at scale. This year, we had pecan crusted grouper at Glenview and it was absolutely delicious.

I've had 2 Thanksgiving Dinners at Palmer Legends (they were too busy this year) and it was spectacular, both times.

Turkey is actually fairly easy to prepare at scale, but you have to want to do a good job.

At one of our hotels, we generally serve about 1000 for Easter, 800 for Mother's Day and 800 for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is by far the easiest. Of course, we don't "plate" for events that large.
