I remember your post, Jane, and it totally disgusted me. AMG, I am so sorry for you and your wife, your first mistake was going to Cody's in LSL in the first place. The place is a total dump, the manager/owner could care less. I've only been in there less than 1/2 doz times but from the very first time when I saw all those peanut shells on the floor, my stomach turned. Then the bathrooms, and the sticky menus the 2nd time was the icing on the cake for me. The last time was only because a group wanted to go there and I didn't want to be a party - pooper but NEVER again. I know Bonnie loved it but she was so sweet, she loved everything and everyone.
AMG, I'm so glad you put this out there because if we could stop going to the particular restaurant, perhaps the manager would realize he's in trouble. PS, I'm the one who saw the rat in the rafters, that was the 4th visit. EWWWW.

Woman Sues Restaurant After Falling on Peanut Shells Scattered All Over Floor - MUNCHIES

Same thing happened at a large major burger/steak chain up north many years ago. Forgot the name (edit: Just Rememberedthe name! The Ground Round!) but they went out of business not long after they removed the free peanuts because someone reportedly slipped, fell and sued.
The same can happen when the floor of a restaurant is wet. My guess an accident on peanut shells would not be insignificantly higher than another floor.

On the peanut shells thing, I worked with the sweetest young gal who had a raging peanut allergy. If she even got a whiff of them she would turn beet red and have trouble breathing and kind of hyperventilate. So it was serious for her. I saw it one time with my own eyes. I doubt it would be safe for her to go to a place with peanut shells on the floor, and I know she would run like a bat out of hell out of there if she saw them.

Anyway, that idea is stolen from the late 'Ground Round' restaurant chain that had peanut shells on the floors by the 1970s.

If an employee doesn’t notice they have lost a glove while preparing food, there’s a serious problem there.
I agree with this conclusion. From the glove's placement in the takeaway container, among the lettuce leaves, and having some grated cheese and a tomato wedge on top of it, it likely slid off the hand of a worker on the line at the packaging plant. The employee was probably dumping the salad makings from the bag in haste and didn't notice the glove.

I very much agree with your take on this situation.

It's disgusting to think of using a cloth that cleans the ashtrays to clean the table.
But you make a good point.

Mistakes happen, I am sure it wasn't intentional. When I was young I worked in and around many kitchens. Back them nobody wore gloves even when mixing huge tubs of coleslaw with our bare hands and our arms in the stuff up to our elbows. Everybody seemed OK after eating it. I have seen things in some kitchens when I used to own a carpet cleaning company that made it so I would never eat at some of those restaurants again. Maybe that is why I really prefer to cook at home.

A few of us were discussing this thread and laughing our asses off of the over dramatization of posters on TOTV when restaurant " reviews " are posted like anonymous posts are gonna prevent others from ever stepping into the door of an establishment.
