Hi Everyone, I recently moved from the Twins Cities....not much I miss about MN but I do miss the excellent ethnic cuisines in MSP area.
Lived in TV for about a year and half and have no luck finding anything really outstanding. So am willing to travel to Orlando ... the horror! ![]() Can anyone please share your fav places in Orlando (or anywhere within an hour drive) for Chinese, Thai, Korean. Seriously missing banchan, and numbing sichuan oil over cold bean jelly. ![]() Found a fairly good Indian place in Ocala but please let me know about anything else you'd recommend. If anyone visits MSP I recommend ( Home - Chinese restaurant in twin cities ) Even in the boring suburbs there are many Vietnamese, Korean places. Last edited by AMB444; 03-30-2026 at 08:59 PM. |

The only "quality" Chinese sit-down restaurant type food I like is lobster Cantonese, which I haven't eaten since Far East closed in New Haven back in the 1970's. I'm more of a Chinese Take-out kinda gal, and China Max seems to fit with my tastes on that. It's absolutely NOT gourmet. It's just an ordinary take-out joint with I think three tables. Their egg rolls are crispy and loaded with cabbage, their General Tso's Chicken is flavorful and rich with a generous amount of broccoli. They don't have their own duck sauce made on site, they only have the cheap packages. I don't remember the soup - which means it wasn't "bad," it was just unmemorable. No one ever puts slivers of pork in their wanton soup anymore.
If you're looking for gourmet Chinese food, don't go to China Max. If you're looking for a decent take-out joint, that's a good option. It's in a strip mall on 441, right next to Papa John's pizza, right off Rolling Acres. |

The TOP 10 Asian Restaurants in Orlando
May be of interest. There are food lovers here on Talk of the Villages. It may take them a while to respond. |

I knew moving down here would limit our choices of decent restaurants. But had no idea how bad it would be. There is one pho restaurant north of TV. It's okay... VERY expensive for broth and noodles. We have gone there a few times.... service surly and food small portions and very expensive. |

I don't think anyone moves to the Villages for their food choices. Being from the Chicago area with many years of entertaining customers in Chicago, the Villages fail.

I found the Indian food at Bombay Bistro in Summerfield to be quite authentic. Otherwise I'd recommend learning how to do your fave dishes yourself! Mr. Google and Youtube are fantastic teachers.

I’ve been here many years. I’ve tried most of the Chinese restaurants within the villages. I love Chinese food, but I rarely eat it here. I definitely miss it. Also, wouldn’t it be nice if there was a Chinese restaurant here that had a nice inside restaurant atmosphere to sit down to eat?
