Went to woody's last night in wildwood. Service was a little slow , but the food was worth the wait. We had the full rack of ribs for 12.99 and they were great.they do not have beer or wine right now . We met the new owners and she said their liquor license has not come in yet,it will be 2 more weeks before they get it.

We have been Woody's fans for the past year, but our last visit was disappointing. The quality of the ribs was poor, and the number of ribs in the lunch special was reduced. Your post mentions new owners - guess that explains it.

Looks like they're only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! And if I read things right on their web site, they have no dining area - just walk-up and drive-thru service. Is that what you found on your visit there, jblum? Thanks! Bill ![]() |

Is everythig smoked? I can't stand smoked food. I like the taste of real food rather than the residue of smoke. And besides, it's a carcinogen!

Obviously, I don't have a lot of experience with BBQ. When I was a kid my parents had a cheap charcoal grill for picknicks. They would grill hamburgers and hotdogs. I don't remember the food tasting like charcoal.
Several years ago I went out to eat with a neighborhood group. I think the place was called "Smokehouse"? The meat (this was before I became a vegan) had the flavor of some kind of wood. I wasn't expecting it and it was a big disappointment. |

BBQ is cooking with indirect heat using wood, charcoal or some other heat source.
When you cook directly over charcoal it is grilling. Ribs for instance take 3-4 hours to BBQ with the temp in the cooking area 200-225. Pork butt(shoulder) takes 6-8 hours, Beef brisket may take 8-12 hours. The flavor of the meat may be changed by the different woods used to smoke it, pork goes well with hickory, apple & cherry wood, I like mesquite with beef. Chicken & turkey may be BBQ'd or grilled but low and slow is best. Burgers, hot dogs and steaks are grilled over direct heat and take much less time It's all good. ![]() |
