Default The Birds and Flakes are Back!

The Snowbirds and Snowflakes are arriving daily. The cars have been driving faster and the golf cars have been driving faster. They are more impatient at restaurants and stores and seem to talk down to the frogs. (folks that are here till they croak)

The good news is that this behavior is only temporary. After a couple of months they lose the veneer of being out of the bubble in the real cruel world and settle back in as Villagers. Welcome Back!

And for those whose behavior does not change from the cold cruel reality world, please quarantine yourselves in your house until spring and then return to the like minded.

So you're saying this behavior doesn't happen year long by the FROGS?

Ok, I’ll keep my opinion to myself on this one.

Apparently some don't think so.

Personally, I think if someone really wanted to generalize (& most everyone seems to on here), the year round residents are the worst to deal with, other than perhaps renters. Many of the folks who live here all year, think that entitles them to some special treatment or privileges ... or perhaps they're simply cranky, after dealing with 4 months of 93+ degrees and being mostly stuck home in front of the AC.

The foliage is in full bloom up north and a deep frost is forecasted for this weekend, so as the leaves change color up north the license plates begin to change color in Florida. It does take a couple days to decompress from the cold cruel world of reality and transition back to bubble life. I can’t wait to begin the process next week. Reality sucks!

I wouldn’t paint all renters with a broad brush. Some of my favorite Villages friends (and golf group members) are great folks who have been renting for three or four months every winter for several years. Transitional short term renters are an entirely different animal!

OP ……Snowflakes float in and out all year round. Sometimes for few days, weeks or month. Can still be employed, or close to retirement, TV is a secondary or vacation home.

We Snowflaked for 10 years. Usually in April, May, September, November, for less than a week.

Year 11 one became a bird, usually arriving in TV after northern colors changed, trees were bare, and first frost brought sparkling sunrise. Waiting until February to arrive back to TV, leaving in April for the Coast.

Poor driving habits, are a norm, become worse with aging. Just because someone lives year round in TV, doesn’t exclude them from rude entitled behavior, or poor driving habits.

Welcome back to all the residents who give the restaurants, trash pickup, golf courses, a vacation every year. Yet pay year round for the rest to enjoy

Now that we got the annual snowbird complaint out of the way, let's trot out the quarterly complaints about roundabout lane violators, dog poopers, turn signal violators, and golf cart speeders.

If you all had to assign a single date that marked peak snowbird season, what would that date be? Likewise, what two dates would you use to bookend snowbird season?

Peak February 1st. Bookend Columbus Day through end of April.

It's cute that you think that the snowbird complaints are over
