There is an article in the Villages News com. The AAC has agreed to pay for painting of center stripes on the multi-modal paths. The AAC has agreed to pay for the future maintainence of these painted stripes. There wil be NO cost to the individual CDD's.

CDD's 1, 2, 3 and 4 had meetings to discuss. Only CDD 4 accepted the AAC's offer.

I understand that it will not solve all the problems, but I feel it's a step in the right direction. Why not accept the offer ?

i think it's a waste of money.....there is no reason why drivers can't keep to the right on a cart path....what's next center guard rails.

AAC? who is the AAC? Also when I read the article, I got the impression that the cost of painting and maintenance would come out of amenity fees. Wouldn't that eventually cause them to go up?

I don't know if it would help or not. I see cart drivers on Morse often with their left wheels outside the line....a very unsafe way to drive.

I disagree. Not only is painting a center stripe a very inexpensive safety improvement, but I've seen many cart drivers misjudge the paths on curves and then swerve to miss carts in their proper lanes going in the opposite direction. Where center lines are missing or worn off the chances increase for these misjudgements leading to collisions.

If there is a centerline, and my tire nudges it on a tight corner...and a deputy hiding in the bushes sees my infraction, what will my fine likely be?

If they don't want to spend the money on paint, how about the little L shaped plastic road markers. If you get the right one they also will glow at night when lights hit them. They very cheap and you place them very 20 feet or so.

Just saying maybe they need to think outside the box for solutions.

I think either a stripe down the middle or some reflectors on the edges would help at night. These old eyes have a hard time telling where the edge of the path is sometimes when there is a on-coming cart with their lights on and either a stripe down the center or reflectors on the edge would help me

I believe painting a stripe will enforce the idea that the paths are primarily for carts instead of what they are intended for which is walkers, bikers, skaters and everyone's use. Maybe be everyone should just slow down and then it makes little difference what side of the road you are on.

Then why have center stripes on two lane highways??? There's no reason why drivers can't keep to the right on a two lane road, is there? Just think of all the money FL Dept of Transportation would save.

I just love a good solid return shot!!
It is no secret that soem residents have no idea of the size of what ever vehicle they happen to be driving.
Painting a center line will add a factor of safety day and especially at night.
Maybe if TV were cited in a court action involving an accident they would change their minds.

There really is no justifiable reason to not do it.....NONE! In my humble opinion.

The center stripes on two lane highways tell drivers when it is safe to pass another vehicle.

no villa streets have a stripe. many many streets too numerous to mention throughout the villages have no stripes. so why all of a sudden all this rhetoric about the lack of safety.

AAC is the Amenity Authority Committee. A simplified explanation of their function is, they decide where our amenity fees are to be spent. Spending on a particular project will not cause the fees to increase. Increases are contractual.

I recommend attending one of the classes offered by the CCD for a fuller and correct explanation of their duties.

An article in today's Sun on page C3 explains the action talen in reference to painting multimodal path center strips.
