Group Instruction Programs
We offer various group programs suitable for
players of different skill levels.
For the new golfer we have designed a three-part
series program:
Introduction to Golf
A Get Golf Ready initiative is a program
that focuses on the individual that is just
beginning their journey in the game of golf
here in The Villages.
New to Golf I
This program is an expansion of the
Introduction to Golf program and focuses
on the understanding of basic short game
techniques and full swing mechanics.
New to Golf II
Is an expansion from New to Golf I and
reinforces both short game and full
swing techniques and introduces game
management on the course. This program is
an excellent choice for those players returning
to the game.
Each one of the classes can be taken individually
or as a package and is conducted in a fun and
relaxed atmosphere with fellow residents of similar
ability. Feel free to start at the beginning and work
your way through as your skill and confidence
advance, or jump into the program you feel is
commensurate with your current ability.
We are always changing and adding programs to
meet the needs of our residents. Check out two of
our most popular programs.

I believe the OP was looking for a play group rather than lessons. This could probably be started right here with query about new players wanting to form a group. These groups quickly develop a life of their own.

Mulligan is right as usual, but I will give you a little advice.

Now listen please with kindness because I mean it kindly. You should have a patient friend who is a veteran golfer to go with your new to golf three of you to sort of teach you the ropes, the etiquette and keep the "pace of play".

Some general rules. Pick up your ball after double par. So if it is a par 3. Pick up your ball after six strokes. Start again on the next hole.

Don't look for more that a few minutes for a lost ball. You will lose a few when you are a beginner. Stay behind and away from anyone hitting.

When you advance your cart, park it next to the green and do not mark your scorecard or chat when you leave the green. The mark of a good golfer is to walk quickly off the green and advance to the next hole immediately, where you can high five and chat for a minute or two.

If you land in a sand trap, rake the trap after you leave it so your footprints are smooth.

That is enough for now. Don't play hurried golf but be aware to keep up with the group ahead of you.

I know you will enjoy the game. I know to a new golfer this sounds like hurrying but it is good and kind advice.

Default New golf group

I developed my golf group from this site. I was new to golf and was looking for someone to play with. I gathered 5 other ladies to play golf with. We now have a wonderful group of golfers. I would suggest that if you are not a golfer then take some lessons. The golf course is really not the place to learn how to swing a golf club. Some knowledge before hand will go a long way. Once you get the basics then go out and have fun!!!! There are so many courses here to enjoy.

across the street from where I live. I introduced myself and asked if they knew of any golf groups looking to add people. Within a few weeks I was in a Tuesday men's group and Friday mixed group.

A little curiosity goes a long way. Luck...
