I keep reading on here that TV is a "dog friendly community", and people with an aversion to dogs, or allergic to dogs should not have moved here. I have neither, but am just curious...just where is this information imparted? I came on a Lifestyle Preview, several friends have, we have a lot of literature about The Villages, and none of us ever remember that being an outstanding selling point. I never imagined pets wouldn't be allowed, so truthfully, I never asked. And I read there are communities that wouldn't allow dogs...never researched that either. Again, just curious...not looking for an argument.

I think you can have two dogs per home--not sure if that counts two animals per household--

I did hear that. 2 pets...you can move in with more but can't replace as you lose any. My neighbor has 2 dogs and a cat. Moved in with dog and cat, got another dog as company for the 1st dog. I couldn't care less...it's his house, he feeds them.

Our pets give us so much in return. It would sure be nice if they villages had planned a small area in each village for the pups to congregate and do their business. A flusher or container for the poops would be the cats . . (eh the dogs?) meow. Of course I'd miss watching all the dog walkers and their "little bags" waving every day. I so enjoy my doggie neighbors and their human owners too.

I frequently use the dog park over by paradise but never use the other two. I've recently seen a lot of people walking their dogs around the newly built trail that runs by the dog park but never utilizing the dog park to socialize their dogs. I've had some owners tell me " Oh, I can't bring her in there, she's scared of other dogs". Yeah. You wander why?

I know I have read this is a dog friendly community too, but nothing in the literature from the developer that promotes that point that I ever remember seeing. There may have been some posts on this forum that occasionally say if you don't like it here, you can easily sell your house, make a profit and move, but that isn't the general consensus of feeling, I don't think. I think that it is easy to see on a visit here that dogs are very present. What exactly is your question? There are differing deed restrictions about pets based on WHERE you live in The Villages. Bogie will probably link you to those. ![]()

Yes TV is a dog friendly community. That is until dog owners allow their dog to poop in other peoples yard, drink from water fountains, or take them to restaurants. When those things are done one will become a hot topic on TOTV and the dog owner should be publicly flogged.

So many seniors lose a spouse, are separated from family, are lonely...many reasons, and they want the companionship of an animal. I think since this is a community of seniors, you do see quite a few pets. I know that as long as I am able, I will have a pup or two. |
