My wife and 5 relatives were trying to enjoy a movie last night but were bothered by two males in their 20's being loud, disruptive and drunk. My wife approached the asst. mgr. with their behavior and all the mgr could do was tell them to turn off their cell phone. This was after the mgr. agreed that they would be a problem when they entered the theater. They had containers of booze and were dropping their cans on the floor and allowing them to roll down the floor. Some other patrons mentioned they could smell the booze on them as they moved by them to change seats.
These two entered the movie after it started and left before it was over, as though they were there only to disrupt others. They were also using foul language but after my wife told the mgr. about the language she said, "Well, it is an R rated movie." But these two were talking loudly and using obnoxious profanity. The movie was "Sex Tape." After the second time out to talk to the Mgr., my wife asked for a refund or a ticket for another movie. The mgr. at first was reluctant to offer anything and said if she gave the refund, my wife would have to leave the theater right then and asked for her ticket stub. My wife had thrown her stub away but she asked why she would have to leave and miss the movie while the punks are able to stay. Finally, the mgr. capitulated and offered a ticket for another movie but our 5 relatives got nothing. Considering all the violence that has occurred in theaters you would hope the mgmt would be more considerate of the patrons and less so to scofflaws.

A call to 911 would have solved the problem.

I agree with you, e06.
The episode you describe reflects the moral decay of society in several ways. --the actions of the young. --the inaction of the theater manager, who feared retaliation, perhaps violently against the theater, the manager, or the patrons. --the inability of the justice system to prevent retaliation and repeat action, thus they were not called. That is, if the youths persisted beyond the reproach of the theater manager, police could be summoned, but they are powerless, as are the courts; punishments are lenient, and there is no protection for the victims in today's society. Sadly, the result is fewer people enjoying the public company of others, furthering the cycle of disrespect for other human beings. I fear for our grandchildren, and their children. |

If the two younger people were very loud, drunk, and very disruptive, you should gave gone to the lobby and told the manager if they were not ejected that you would call 911 - and followed through on the action.
Asking for a refund AND wanting to stay is ridiculous. Either they were SO annoying that you had to leave or you stayed. You stayed and should not get anything. You cannot eat the steak and then complain it was inedible. (Judge Judy 101) |

It all falls back on what is permitted now and what is perceived to and will be permitted in the future... as of the ending of this issue, these idiots
will due it again and again as long as we the public permit it to go on without action! They should be removed after a warning from management then 911 should be called and it becomes "disorderly conduct" if occurring in the presence of the Officer.. The Manager must be called to the Front Office and explain their inaction on the complaint.. and consider being replaced.. Management should have a sit down talk with the Sheriff's Dept. how future incidents will be handled. Business will suffer if something like this is not brought under control immediately.. just look at the coverage this incident received! Management take notice PLEASE! THESE DISORDERLY PERSONS WILL NOT KEEP THE THEATRE IN BUSINESS... I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE AS I WAS A THEATRE MANAGER. The next step up the ladder will be taken by us the public...and customer. This is your warning... Do not just tell us this is an "R" rated movie.. we are quite a bit older than you most likely and know lip service... save your job and time.. |

We can blame a lot of people for this behavior, but good behavior starts at home. It's not the teacher, police officer, pastor, or even the theater manager's responsibility. But these people must step up and take on the parents' job, risking their own safety I might add.
I'm sure none of our parents would have tolerated this type of behavior. If we got in trouble at school, we were in trouble at home. It does not take a village, it takes parents doing their jobs. |

My wife And I have lived here at The Villages, for almost five years now and it is a really nice place to live. However, I too have three times experience problems with youth too. First, let me say that for some reason the Young here in florida are being taught to detest the elders and most of my neighbors agree. Second, The Villages, which are truly awesome were built in a Third World State. A state which is rated last in the United States in Health Care and Dental Care. Florida is actuarially rated worst than 90 % than SA Third World Countries, look it up. Its no secret. Just the facts. It is a FAILED STATE. If anyone is interest in great and non expensive dental or medical care, please search for MEDICAL TOURISM outside of the US. Just get REFERRALS. There are good and bad everywhere in this world.

Calling the police on the youths in the theater would have gotten the youths kicked out of the theater with a stern "talking to" and the reporting movie patron a set of four slashed tires on their car.

Im tired of bad behavior and rude people getting away with things because people are afraid to act.
Why should anyone follow rules, laws and just have decent behavior if there are no consequences ? I don't know what the solution is,I just hope that I brought up my children to have better manners Debbie |
