Has anyone had torpedograss in their zoysia lawns. If so how did you get rid of it?? Who did you use? Where you pleased with the service and results?? It's just in the back of the house and I want to get it under control before it creeps to the front grass.

Wish I could be positive, but it's very difficult to control, let alone eradicate. Zoysia Green has sprayed my lawn regularly and it has slowed the spread. Allen's Sod tells me it is there to stay and just keep it green and mowed. Of more concern is the St. Augustine coming over from my neighbor's lawn.

We hired the Fertigator and the healthy lawn has pretty much choked out most if the torpedo grass. We used to have a lot.

Its really hard to eradicate this stuff!! It grows so quick (underground) in all directions. I tried digging it up for a while, but didn't work. I thought by killing an area at a time, maybe I would nip it in the butt, but no. My two neighbors have the stuff, and crawls to my lawn. I eventually bought St Augustine plugs, and planted them (resembles the look of torpedo) and gave up. I went to the Annex on 466, and they said the only way to get rid of it, was to kill whole area, and some. They suggested to use killer twice to really penetrate in ground. Torpedo can grow deep. I let the torpedo win. Maybe some day they will invent a submarine that can work under ground and eradicate this weed, by sending out torpedo's to kill it away!!

I hate all grass... of course we lived in AZ for over 30 years. Embrace the beauty of stone.

No. It just appeared in spots. I thought it may have come in on a mower, but Allen's thought it was unlikely. It has popped up in about six spots in his lawn. We just kill it and let the zoysia fill in.
My neighbor also removed a problem tree and went out to get sod to cover the area. Came back with several pieces of St. Augustine sod and was getting ready to put it down when I let him know it was a mistake since the rest of his lawn is zoysia. Poor guy had to take it back and get zoysia sod.

St. Augustine Floritam was developed at the U. of Florida for this climate. It is NOT what northeners call Crab Grass. St. Augustine is the only grass I've had all my life until here and would welcome it coming over from my neighbors. Look at the lawns north of 466 where it is mostly St. Augustine during drought times or most any other times and you will see beautiful green lawns compared to south of 466 where they used Zoyzia.

Thanks for the recommendation. How long did it take to see results? And how long for the healthy grass to choke out the torpedograss?
